Description:
As seen in Car & Driver, Road & Track, Grassroots Motorsports, and the New York Times. So you've already got a sweet ride... now you can measure just how sweet it is. Dynolicious uses the iPhone's built-in accelerometer to measure you vehicle's 0-60 acceleration, quarter mile elapsed time, horsepower, lateral G's, and several other performance metrics. A history of test results for your car are saved, so averages and trends can instantly be retrieved. Dynolicious also allows you to record modifications made to your car, and to evaluate the resulting gains (or losses) in power and performance. Dynolicious has been track-tested at a major dragstrip against regulation timing equipment, and has demonstrated accuracy comparable to standalone performance meters which cost hundreds of dollars. Dynolicious has support for both US and International units of measurement, including MPH or km/h speeds, lb or kg weights, and HP or kW power figures. Post your results to Facebook and Twitter to impress your friends! Whether you're a serious tuner or a casual enthusiast, you'll find the feature-rich and easy-to-use Dynolicious is both a valuable tool and fun car toy. Dynolicious is intended for experienced drivers in a suitable location. Always obey traffic laws.

Fantastic Program! By: texaspaul - Aug 4, 2008 Version: 1.02 I don't know how I didn't hear about this sooner! I does exactly what a G-Tech will do, however is a fraction of the price! The numbers it gives seem to be right, however I have not had my ride professionally dyno'd yet. I want to thank the people who engineered this software. It's actually a way to harness and use some of the iPod/iPhone features. Bottom line: It does exactly what it says it will very nicely and for an affordable price. Only think I could think of to make this better, is a way to export the data.
A must have! By: Saisoku69 - Aug 3, 2008 Version: 1.02 I just got this app 2 days ago and it is awesome, 0-60 and 1/4 mile time are accurate but you need the right weight off the car other wise you will get inaccurate readings and make sure your iPhone is facing forward, set it in the cup holder or get a iPhone holder for your car from eBay! You can get them for cheap!
I'm just waiting for a update that would include:
-Panoramic view graphs
-A more attractive look
-Replay and Freeze mode
Keep up the good work!
Amazingly Accurate By: jeffberg - Aug 1, 2008 Version: 1.02 This app is amazing. It may not replace the $300 professional tools but at $12.99 it's cheap enough for even a moderate car enthusiast.
When measuring 0-60 time the MPH dial on this app is spot on. The SkidPad is amazingly fun.
The UI is a bit quirky and it crashes every once in a while but overall is excellent.
( those of you crashing when adding a vehicle. This is a result of jailbreaking your phone. Open Cydia and download the SQLlite update. )
My only complaint is that at idle when I go to start a new run, my car is so shaky that even at idle this app will never calibrate. Therefore I cannot get am accurate 1/4 mile or BHP rating.
Works great By: CJ_boxster - Aug 1, 2008 Version: 1.02 I see afew bad reviews about calculations but I'm certain that those users are calibrating it right, properly securing the iPhone before they start there run, entering the correct weight of there vehicle including themselves and all there junk in the trunk and there new heavey aftermarket wheels.
Also no need to burn rubber for ur HP only run. Just be smooth and stop accelerating once you top out in 3rd gear.
Fantastic Software with room to grow By: Vortec4800 - Aug 1, 2008 Version: 1.02 This is a great app and I feel it's worth every penny, but I do think there are some things that could be improved. Consider my $13 an investment and use it to make this software even better! - There are still some crashes in the program that need to be taken care of. Obviously with bug fixes and updates these should get taken care of over the course of time. It's fairly stable, just some occasional crashes. - One one run I did the 1/4 time showed up as a negative number and my speed was listed as infinite. Obviously there was some sort of math glitch in there which needs to be sorted out. Every other stat from the run was correct, it was only the 1/4 info that was wrong. This also made the vehicle average for the 1/4 time wrong as it was factoring this bogus run into the average. Deleting the bad run took care of it. - As of right now you can only add a photo of the car from your camera roll (or other album) but what if I'm standing in front of the car and want to take a picture right then? You should add an option to bring the camera up right there and take the picture without having to save it to the camera roll as well. I don't really need to save a random picture of my car to the roll, I just want it in the program. - Putting in the info for the car seems glitchy as well. When you put in the weight if you don't click on the DTL input box and just touch back it doesn't put in the weight. If you go back to the edit screen for the weight it is still in there, it just doesn't show up on the car's info page. You have to touch the other text box before going back to the previous screen to make it stick. - It would be really cool if you had some sort of "export" function for saved results. Either via an internet service you provide (log in to your website and browse your cars and the slips for each one online) or something as simple as emailing the stats to yourself. I've been taking a screenshot of the slip and saving that file to my computer which works, but something more automated would be cool. Maybe a mock-up of a real time slip with all the info that could be saved or sent to your email. - The calibration doesn't seem to work on my iPhone (2.5G.) It gets to the point where you have to hold it face-down and then doesn't do anything. I don't know what the problem is but I'd like to get the phone properly calibrated so I know I'm getting the best results possible. That's all the info I have for now, this app is already very polished and like I said I'm really excited to see what's to come. Keep up the great work, I'd love to see this turn into something huge!
Incredible! It Really Works! By: Mike909 - Jul 30, 2008 Version: 1.02 When I first saw this I thought it was too good to be true, since there weren't any reviews then I waited until the next day when there were 3 review of praise about it. I bought it and used it in 2 vehicles, my F150 and my Polaris Ranger XP. Both of the tests came out perfect. I don't know if the horsepower reading are exact but they seem pretty accurate based on manufacturers specs and compensating for transmission drag; the actual horsepower doesn't matter as much as it is repeatable so you can try different things to see what works. This is probably the best use of the iPhone I have seen yet. This app has so much potential, I don't understand why everyone bags on the price? It seems like a deal for what it is, if you don't think this tool is worth $13 then you probably wouldn't use it if it was free. This is worth the price of a CD.
Completely and utterly fantastic, presuming they iron the bugs out By: ///tonic - Jul 30, 2008 Version: 1.02 I just downloaded this and went out for a little drive ... on ramp, off ramp ... on ramp, off ramp ... I've actually been dreaming about writing a piece of software like this ever since the day I bought my iPhone. And this implementation, on the very initial release, has just about every feature you could want (skidpad, saving of data for multiple cars, including tracking modifications in order to chart power gains, horsepower estimate using weight and drivetrain loss inputs). It's completely fantastic. Seriously, while the accelerometers in the G-Tech may be a bit more accurate than those in the iPhone (the iPhone's 3-axis is on one extremely small integrated circuit due to the obvious packaging constraints), what's most important for accurate calculations is that you have accelerometers for all 3 directions (to properly account for the car squatting/diving/leaning as you drive). I'm hoping to see someone do a head-to-head on this soon, but I'm guessing dynolicious will prove to be within a few percent as accurate as the G-Tech. And, best of all... it's just software on my phone, which I have with me all the time anyway. It does have some bugs though, so I'm hoping they'll ramp up support soon: Mine crashes any time I try to add or edit in "My Ride". And when I try to do the 'Calibration' under "Setup", it just stays on the 'Hold your iPhone steady and level with the arrow pointing up' screen. I'm assuming this calibration is pretty important for accurate readings. So my few runs today were about a half second slower 0-60mph than I expected. I'm presuming this is because it's not calibrated. BunsenTech, can you address these issues?
Simply amazing By: Airnelson - Jul 30, 2008 Version: 1.02 I was hesitant to get this app because it's hard to imagine how a phone sitting in a cupholder can give you info like this let alone be accurate. I purchased anyway and all I can say is wow! Accurate down to 1-3 MPH and that's without GPS!! I have yet to have a single problem from the app, used it about 2 hours so far with 2 different vehicles and the app hasn't crashed yet. This is by far the coolest, most inginuitive, and best application I have bought for my phone or any other device. A must have for any car lover!!! Hit yes if this helped.
very impressive By: FotoGenetix - Jul 29, 2008 Version: 1.02 i've been waiting for this app for quite awhile and its quite impressive. unlike other acclerometer applications you can zero the accelerometer to measure the lateral G's. As far as measuring horsepower and zero to 60 speed im sure its not that accurate but i give this a high rating simply because this is the type of application platform for vehicles the iPhone/iPod touch can bring. I'm very content with the performance. And for people always complaining about price, get a life developers need to get paid for the hard work they do to bring good apps like this. 12 bucks is not bad at all for the enthusiast, this isnt a toy. I will be doing a track test using the skidpad with this app very soon.
Really impressive for the money (Worth every dollar) By: Akura2 - Jul 29, 2008 Version: 1.02 I was going to get a $100 G-Tech meter for my 1968 Mini, but that would necessitate me adding a cig lighter socket... this software works flawlessly so far for basic testing... no more "seat of the pants" guesstimates... I'm very glad and you saved me a lot of money.... the speedometer, g-forces, and the graphical representation of speed all work awesome and very smoothly and accurately... the only thing I would suggest is that whatever car you are going to test... take it to a dump where they can weigh the car as is with you in it... or anywhere you can go to get an accurate automotive scale to weigh your vehicle... that will help you get more accurate horsepower figures during testing.... thank you... thank you... thank you...

Cool App By: Sean112 - 12-Sep-2008 Version: 1.1 I love this app. Me and my friends found ourselves a straight road and nailed it!
I think a cool feature to add would be a sort of car comparison which users can add to, would be cool to see which mods perform best etc. Either way this app is one of the best on the store. Gonna go out tomorrow night when roads are quiet to do a few runs in my car and some my mates. Be safe :) (and look out for police haha)
Hmmm By: Bt1au - 27-Aug-2008 Version: 1.1 Ok well this is the best app I have bought for my iPhone. The only thing this needs is to be able to delete saved runs. And also there is no way to delete a car out of my rides. It's annoying. Cos I tested it out in my crappy car just to see what the app was like and now I can't get it out. If there is a way to delete runs and rides I would love to know. And if there isn't well u think the maker needs to make an update. Well that's my 2 cents worth.
Pretty damn close By: Gokart2 - Apr 11, 2009 Version: 2.1 Some of the specific times like trap speed/time are off a tad bit i think, but i havent taken this to the track to compare. All in all, my estimated whp is within 5hp and my 1/4 mile times are pretty much spot on when comparing my car to others with the same mods... who have seen track time and dyno time. Other apps said 14.2 when it should be around 15.3, which is my average now...all motor, low compression 4 cyl with bolt ons, what do you expect? This app IS gonna get me in trouble though.
Very Accurate Application By: Whiskers! - Mar 1, 2009 Version: 2.1 This app is very good as long as you input the correct information on your vehicle. I haven't accessed all the tools yet since I've made a few runs with the same mods installed. So I will test it further as I add more stuff to the car. Otherwise, from what Dynolicious has shown on my vehicle, it is very accurate considering the mods I've put on it. This is great stuff if you want an accurate assessment of your vehicle without dragging it down to the dyno. Make sure you get your vehicles weight and drivetrain loss online if you don't have access to it locally. Great stuff!
Great interface, awesome results By: Neil1138 - Jan 31, 2009 Version: 2.1 I finally took the plunge and bought this app. Regardless of the price, this app was worth it to me. The interface is straightforward and the results are very accurate. My E46 is supposed to have 193hp and according to this, she's still putting out close to that, ~185hp. With the age of the engine and whether or not I entered the correct drivetrain loss, I'd say this app is a must buy for auto enthusiasts. Again, great job!
Amazing app By: fishb0ne - Jan 20, 2009 Version: 2.1 I love the capabilities of this app and the accuracy. I find myself using the skidpad feature all the time. The ability to log and export the information is immensely valuable and makes this app very meaningful.
To ensure accuracy make sure you follow the calibration instructions closely, secure the device down and flat in your car. I would also encourage that you go to a truck stop and put the car on the scale for the most accuracy with a full tank of gas and you out of it (you can factor your weight in easily)
A must have for any car enthusiasts By: UTImonkey - Jan 4, 2009 Version: 2.0 Ok first off I have to say this app is simply amazing. i highly recommend it to anyone interested in cars and to anyone with a second generation itouch or iphone. it seems the app has major problems on first generation itouch and iphone. so in other words... dont get it if u dont have a second generation ipod. other than that problem i love the app and its fun to see what your car can do.
Great Buy By: Jznsx - Dec 3, 2008 Version: 2.0 Okay i bought an ipod touch just get this program. Lets just say Im a car enthusiust.....anyways...ive seen videos of this on youtube and heard stories so i thought id give it a try. And to my amazement my lil ipod presents very accurate figures of 1/4 mile and 0-60 times as it did on the track and with my stop watch. The program can definitly be improved however, I checked on the developers website and it states their hard at work for another update (which im glad to hear).......i havent tried any other programs that claim to do the same thing, i would just stick with what works and this works. Great Program, Im willing to pay more if it means more Depth within the program.
Amazing update! By: Wakeboardr116 - Nov 10, 2008 Version: 2.0 I was always impressed with the original but the new update is outstanding. The GUI looks awsome and I love the new graphs. The calibration is much better and I think it has made it even more accurate now. Before I would get fairly close numbers and now it is almost spot on. Yesterday I got 0-60 in 5.56 and 268whp in my 2008 Infiniti G37s and that was with luggage and junk in the car. Very close to the normal numbers. I tried it out on my Polaris ranger for fun and it had a 0-30 of like 5.6 sec and made 21hp! This app delivers! Keep up the good work.
Just remember before you complain, did you CALIBRATE it?
WOW!!!! By: 400hp Supra - Nov 7, 2008 Version: 2.0 I am simply AMAZED by the accuracy of this app. It is 100% correct on the distances travelded and the top speed is right on the dot too. This is totally worth 12.99. Anybody that's interested in what their car is capable of should buy this app. If you calibrate it right this is just as accurate, if not more accurate than more expensive counterparts. Anyone wondering if this is worht it, stop thinking, just buy it now IT IS WORTH IT!!!
