Reviews:
Great Application(and it does have box scores!) By: .D - Jul 13, 2008 Version: 1.0.0 This is a great application. As I read the reviews prior to my purchase some stated that it did not provide box scores. If you touch the symbol on the lower right-hand side of the screen it provides box scores. The highlights provided from TV networks around the country are absolutely amazing. Why not try it for $4.99 for the remainder of the season? If your team has a chance at making a playoff run (as the Tigers do!). Give this a chance.
A must have for a baseball fan. By: digitalturtle - Mar 5, 2009 Version: 2.0.1 Spring fever is here and the World Baseball Classic is underway. MLB.com At Bat is here again to provide exactly what you need. The videos are great and the in game trackers is top notch. I would like to see more game summaries but hey this is spring training so I can wait for the regular season for that. The addition of in game audio makes this a killer app as I can listen while out and away from the radio.
ENOUGH ALREADY YOU WHINY CRY BABIES By: MaxBook - Jul 13, 2008 Version: 1.0.0 OK, look, for 5 bucks, this gives you up to date baseball scores, and it offers video just a few minutes after. I HAVE CALLED MLB. THEY SAY IT IS A ONE TIME PRICE! So enough of that. Second of all, if you're in need of stats, there is a free app called "Baseball" (just look in the free apps section). it offers all of the stats, but no scores. so you're just going to have to settle for 2 different apps to deal with that. Overall, great program.
Don't listen to the haters... Great App!!! By: MikeyB. - Sep 4, 2008 Version: 1.2 So, MLB At Bat was pretty good when I first bought it. It was pretty limited in features, but did the job. Gave me scores, showed the game in progress in the bottom left corner, and gave me a link to the mobile pitch-by-pitch, and a few video highlights during the game. Not great, but good enough. And worth the $5 for me. The latest iteration, however, has totally expanded its functionality, and now you have true pitch-by-pitch Game Day, a real Box Score, videos, play-by-play, everything you really need to pretty much watch the game. That's the beauty of baseball, numbers plus the pitch-by-pitch are not to far from watching the game live. It's worth the $5 even if you bought it today for the rest of the season, IMHO. I'm very happy with this app, and I totally expected it to be sunscription-based (though it might not be, don't see that written anywhere in the description.) Even if it went up tp $10 next season, I'd be all over it. If you're a baseball fan, or fantasy addict, it gives you all you need to keep up with your favorite players and teams in real time.
Wow..What an upgrade!!! By: JadeKyle - Sep 4, 2008 Version: 1.2 When I first bought this app in June, it was because I am a huge baseball fan and needed a good way to track the games. I was hugely disappointed, and used several other free apps instead. This update changed that in a hurry, and made it a definite buy each year. Gameday on the iPhone is awesome, pitch-by-pitch simulation, real-time stat updating..you couldn't ask for more. The only downfall to this app, is that there are no places in the app to view current league standings. I am sure this is an oversight, and will be corrected soon enough. Well worth $5 even for just the last week of the season. You will not be disappointed.
GRANDSLAM! By: bluemarlinchef24 - Sep 3, 2008 Version: 2.0.1 Now this app is the homerun in the bottom of the ninth all tied up in game 7 of the World Series!
The September 2 2008 update makes this the best sports app for the iPhone.
All the info I need for all games.
All I can say is WOW!!
I can't wait for the developers to create NFL, NBA and NCAA versions.
I really love this app and use it everyday.
Keep up the good work.
If you're a baseball fan don't be a cheapass and buy this one. You won't regret it.
Go Angels!!
New Gameday support makes this MUCH better By: Songs44K - Sep 3, 2008 Version: 1.2 The initial versions of this app were pretty lame, but the newest version (1.2) added Gameday support, and now this is a very nice little app. The gameday support includes pretty much all the info that you'd find in gameday on the MLB web site, and that information is pretty well-organized into multiple screens. Before the gameday support was added, this app cost too much and did too little. Now it is a very nice little app (IMO), and worthwhile. Hopefully they won't overprice the version for next year's season.
Great Update! By: JPL4 - Sep 3, 2008 Version: 1.2 I have used MLB at Bat since the release but had been using some other free apps to fill the gap for live gameplay. This latest update has been great. It has to be the biggest update to an app yet and has not disopointed. The new features are great and live pitch by pitch is almost up to the second on wifi. Just nuts. Also love that every players name is a link to their stat card.. Great Job MLB.. Next: Game Day Audio?
It's out-a here! By: im scott - Sep 2, 2008 Version: 2.0.1 I bought this app a few weeks ago and thought it was a great little app (or subscription if you want to be all technical about it) but need some work. With every update... it gets better and better! I am digging this app! For the amount that I have used it... it works out to be pennies a use. I love it... and if you want to stay right on top all the games they are there! And as far as it being a subscription... this is the cheapest thing out there.
THE GREATEST! By: DekeJediVader - Feb 17, 2009 Version: 2.0.1 This is what sports apps should all be about. Every other sports league should take notice. And I didn't get it last season because I got my iPhone in August! Whatever they charge (within reason), will be well worth it, and probably the best money spent on an iPhone or iPod touch other than the actual device itself. My biggest complaint is what the hell am I supposed to do for the month of March after this app expires & '09 becomes available? I'm thoroughly hooked!

Very well done, MLB By: dcnatsfan - Sep 2, 2008 Version: 1.2 I previously criticized MLB (in a top-rated review) for releasing a very weak app that contained no stats, box scores, pitch by pitch, etc. So, I'm pleased to report that they've now added a slick iPhone interface for all of these features, including a nice graphical layout of defensive positioning, summaries, and videos. This is, in short, absolutely perfect. I now wholeheartedly recommend this app to all baseball fans.
Needs game day audio. By: Deeznutts - Jan 26, 2009 Version: 2.0.1 I love this app, I have other sports apps but for baseball this one is the cleanest and has up to date stats and game action. The only thing it needs is access to gameday audio. I buy the season subscription every year and to be able to access it via MLB at bat would be amazing!! Even better would be the access to MLB at bat for free if you buy the gameday audio subscription. You will get that 5th star if you have that included in 09!!
Stop complaining! It's a great app! By: dabigeddie1 - Jan 15, 2009 Version: 2.0.1 All of the people who are giving this app a low ranking should not be complaining. I bought this app @ $5.99 the same moment I got my iPhone 3G, being a Dodgers fan, this came in handy and well worth it seeing we were half way through the season. MLB has every right to charge for this great app, if you have an iPhone and are a baseball fan, the $9.99 price for the ENTIRE season should not be a hardship. If it is, stop whining, you don't need this app and you don't need your iPhone!
Nice app...would get the Full Bore version for $9.99 but... By: Mr. Luigi - Jun 22, 2009 Version: 2.0.2 Good free app for Baseball fans. Get it. As a Free App it rates 5 stars. I would purchase the $9.99 "Full-Bore" version (mlb.com At Bat) of this app for the streaming video, but I read in one place that the $9.99 cost of the application is PER BASEBALL SEASON. I thoroughly read the description for the $9.99 version and they say NOTHING about this. At least, I didn't see anything. Since the typical iTouch/Phone app is "Pay once and the app and future upgrades are yours FOREVER with no additional cost" I think Apple and MLB need to make per season charge, if it's true, VERY OBVIOUS in the app description.
Decent, but needs more By: crnipps - Aug 13, 2008 Version: 2.0.1 I think this is a decent application in that it shows you the score and video highlights. What I would like to see is the ability to stream the game or at a minimum listen to a radio broadcast of the game. The app doesn't even say who is on base. It's pretty frustrating and LiveSportz is a better app in terms of what is currently offered in terms of MLB data. I would really appreciate a radio function to listen to the game.
Very nice interface but not worth $5 By: Anonymous41909 - Dec 28, 2008 Version: 1.4 It's more or less a scoreboard and a portal to the wap website. As it is it should be free considering the quality of free apps available (such as the ap and bloomberg apps). Hopefully they will update it to at least integrate the web content so that it doesn't require opening the browser for basic stays. The bloomberg app is a great example of the kinds of things they could do with this. The video is HORRIBLE over 3G (but great over wifi) and the clips are mostly half minute or so and also do not justify the $5 price tag.
*update 9/1/08*
Ok, I'm revising my review (from one star) based on the 1.3 update, which adds gameday. Much better, and now largely justifies the $. Only thing keeping it from a 5 is the lack of league and team news and stats. But generally, a MUCH better app!
Why does this cost?(updated!) By: Fbddee - 01-Sep-2008 Version: 1.2 Fine app, but why bother paying for this limited interface when you can get the superior LiveSportz for free??
MLB don't need your money - skip this unless they start providing it for nothing!
-------------------
Ok, that's what I wrote before but I take it back!!
I love the link to pitch-by-pitch, and video highlights (would be nice to see more varied highlights tho, not just the homers!) and the new preview and info in the update look promising.
Great app, worth the money. ;)
Seamless with iPhone beauitful menu! By: ZachJ21 - Jul 24, 2008 Version: 1.0.0 Definitly worth the 5 bucks if you love baseball. It shows all the scores and video from the previous day along with current games also shows tomorrows games. The menu is like the weather menu on the iPhone you just slide each menu left to right, the teams logos look great and the picture of the bases is easy to read, all the video highlight are just seconds after they happen! Don't wait another second get this amazing app now!
There will be better By: NYK9327 - Oct 22, 2008 Version: 1.4 Let's face it: next April when they want my money again (I thought this app was forever as well), there will be something better out there for free.
The fact that I paid 5 bucks in July and this app sucked until they decided to make it decent with a month to go in the season doesn't look too optimistic for an upgraded product in April.
Meanwhile, some freebie like Sportacular or the espn iPhone homepage bookmark will be just getting better... For free.... Free... F-r-e-e
Best App on My iPhone By: Swingnite.com - Oct 16, 2008 Version: 2.0.1 I've purchased well over $100 worth of apps from the App Store. This is by far my favorite. I'm a baseball junkie and I love the wealth of information provided instantly and accurately. The videos highlights just put this app on another level. A absolute MUST buy for baseball fans. However pleased wait till the 2009 season as it expires at the end of the season.
Speaking of...
Considering we all own a very expensive device and pay a hefty monthly fee to use it, I find it odd that any of you would complain about repurchasing this amazing app each season. It's very affordable and incredibly useful. Diehard baseball fans should have no issue paying for a program so well put together about our favorite sport.
