I would of only game this 4 stars but this app is SO GOOD only thing is if you could watch games live if you could do that then i would easily give this 5 *++. Any sports fan MUST have this app it's the best thing for sports out there right now! It has all sports so you don't have to go around different apps for football, baseball, basketball, hockey, etc. There is just one app for every sport. Also for like... Baseball it tells you step by step of the game like top 1 Carlos Gomez signal. Spam sacrifice bunt gomez to second. Stuff like that. Other apps would tell you the score and that's it. This app it gives you very detailed stuff and that makes it 100 times better. What would even be better would be if we could watch the game live. That would be the best thing ever. So if your a baseball fan or basketball fan or football fan or hockey fan or golf fan or soccer fan it doesn't matter you have to get this app then. I wish Farve would of went to the Vikings I wanted to see what would happen If it was AP Bennard Harvin and then farve, killer offence but Farve retired. Boo. I think it is going to be the Cavs vs Lakers in NBA finals easily and Cavs win in 6 games. P.S go Twins! P.P.S This is about the I pod touch people say nothing is bad exept battery life and scratchesom the back. For scratched just by a case. And the battery life just go to settings and go to brightness and put it down to almost lowest possible it will be dark but after a little bit it will be fine trust me. I use the I pod touch every day for a while and I charge it every other night during those times only 3 times it has died and then I turn brightness up highest possible and he it dies quick. So I see people don't like battery life but like I said just turn this brightness down almost to the most you can and buy a case and you are good to go. For the I phone I can't tell you anything because I only got I pod touch. Lastly I pod touch is worth what they sell it for I think. I'm tired typeing now!¡ Basically !!!!!!!!!GET THIS APP IT IS GOOD PLUS IT'S FREE!!!!!!! Who do you think will win the NBA championship? I say CAVS you guys..........................

Great free program, just needs some interface tweaks.

It's hard to complain about a free program that does as much as this, but I have two minor requests for future versions. First, it should be clearer that you can click on the SportsTap logo in the top right to get to to the main page. Also, I wish there was a way to get rid of some of the sports on the home screen. I'm not a huge golf or nascar fan for instance, and I wish there was a way to only have the sports icons that I was interested in.
Other than that, this is an amazing contribution to the iPhone software library.

Amazing app

I've been running this app since it's release and other than an unexpetcted crash once in a great while it's always done a great job at getting me the news and scores I wanted. I've written into the support twice with minor issues and they were addressed right away. Someone spoke that the adds were a distraction. I just don't see that as the case. A simple add banner to cover the cost of the hardware is acceptiable. Keep up the great work love the app

This is a fantastic program for encompassing all the major US (and many other global) sports. True, it doesn't have Australian sports, but the app was obviously designed for those who wish to follow American sports. It's well laid out, with clear headings and categories and updates very regularly. MLB support is fantastic, and from what little preseason NFL that has been on, it is also top notch. If you're looking for Australian sports, then this app won't help, but if you want to keep tabs on the biggest sports in the world; then this is for you.

I can't believe this app was still free. I travel year round on tour in a band so I need my sports on the go. Sports Tap delivers. Don't waste your money on the MLB app like I did. The video isn't that good anyway. Biggest let down since the monkey ball app (cube runner rocks). I hope ST updates to have a customizable screen to follow my teams (Braves, Hawks, UGA). This us a must have app for all sports fans!!! Happy apping.

The definitive sports app

This app functions very similarly to its original web-based iteration -- and that's great! It just performs a little snappier as a true app. Scores are available for games in more than a dozen sports. They are updated every minute. Box score information, stats, and player info are included. Upcoming game matches and times are available. The interface is attractive, clean and intuitive. It's all free. Five stars.

The Consummate Free App

SportsTap does for free what others charge for...almost as well. While I still prefer to look at MLB.com At Bat for baseball, as it does have higher updated detail as well as fantastic video highlights, if I did not feel like spending $5 than SportsTap is a perfect alternative. It also comes with every other sport too including European football/soccer! The main screen has easy touch buttons to MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA, Auto, AFL, PGA, LPGA, Tennis, Soccer, Beijing 08, and a fantastic feature called "LocalTap" that uses your iPhone's GPS to determine your area and show you the updates for the teams near you. You can also adjust the distance meter to include teams located 50, 100 and 200 miles away from you.
So far it has been great for the Olympics as I can check medal count, results and schedules for every single event, but it also has great potential for other sports that are not in season currently. I honestly find it amazing that the application is free because $5 or even $10 would be completely reasonable for the kind of updated service provided and the quality of the application interface itself. I'm sure that each sport might come out with it's own service, like MLB.com At Bat, but as an overview for sports applications in general SportsTap sets the bar not only for free applications but applications in general.

Forget that $5 MLB app. This is the one you want.
This gives you the scores, the stats, for ALL the sports you want (for baseball, you get the innings, player stats, standings and more). It give me the golf leader board! This thing just rocks.
There's no video, but I've got SC for that on an HD TV.
I had this on my homescreen when it was an internet app. I would have paid money for it - it's really, really good.

This program does one thing and it does it perfectly. It provides live scores for all the team from most all sports. And since it's on your iPhone, you can check the scores anytime and anyplace. I wasn't sure if I would like this because these programs are often cluttered and difficult to navigate. This program was clean, simple and wonderfully executed. It's so intuitive you don't even have to think. Open, click, click and you've got what you want. Great user interface. Useful. Free. Earns my highest recommendation.

Number bubble like iPhone text or phone icon) u press that sport & it lists all live action. Has all important facts for each sport (eg ap and coachs poll in col foot, standings etc) it's awesome just try 4 free blows em all away

I love this application and it works like a charm. Not only is it easy to use but the visual interface is sleek and effective. Thanks for updating the home page to include Bejing! It's great to see that this is a work in motion. I love the fact that you have chosen to let this application be 'free'. I will recommend this app to everyone who will listen. I know where I will look to find ALL the sports on 'tap'. Awesome!

Honest Suggestion

I love this app. My only suggestion is that if possible make so that when you select your favorite team, when they are playing a game, their score will appear in the actual app icon on the iPods homepage which of course would automatically update. Also I not to much trouble, install a feature that will alert you with an audible sound (like mail does) whenever your teams score fell behind, or rose ahead. With these features, this app would be utterly amazing Thanks

Perfect or when u are unable to check the scores on tv or a computer, for example ur in a car or in gym. problems that I have read about from other reviews are either minor or haven't bothered me. If u want it to refresh more, press the refresh button. Who cares if u can't put the sports icons where u want them, seriously. Pros: + I can see my teams boxscore when I want + I can see if my team is winning or won + free and if u don't like it delete it Cons: - The AL and NL column would be nice especially since the MLB playoffs coming close, but not a big enough reason to persuade me into Bering something else.

Great Sports App

While the graphics aren't as sleek as something like MLB.com, the loads of features, scores, and stats available for each game make up for it completely. Not only do you get up to the minute score updates from any sport you can imagine, but now with the new update you can also have the program keep track of all your local hometown scores with 1 easy click. I'd easily pay 9.99+ for this, but it is free! Any sports fan should have this.

Some minor issues with UI

I use this app quite a bit for baseball, golf and other scores. It is quite handy. The one gripe I had was that when you were deep down several levels such as a PGA scoreboard, you had to scroll to bottom to see the menus to get back up levels. For a PGA event, you can have hundreds of golfers so that is a lot of scrolling. Later, I found out that you can "tap" on the SportsTap icon in upper right corner to go to very top menu, but this wasn't intuitive. Still to navigate up specific levels, you need to scroll all the way to bottom of a page (nice to have this on top too).

A brilliant app for American sportsfans

This applications an excelent app to have handy if your a fan of any american sports.
Living in the UK I am constantly surrounded by British sports which I don't like or care about - however, this app allows me to follow the NHL, NFL and other American leagues and sports that I do care about.
The AccuScore function for games is often very accurate and a nice added function to hockey game previews and something I fail to see mentioned by others.
Yes this app is a little slow, but I would be happy paying to remove the adverts.

This app works great! Provides quick scores every time with little delay and has never crashed or stalled my original iPhone. Let's you into the box score of every game giving you inning-by-inning breakdowns complete with specific scoring recaps and immediate updates! Way more than I ever expected in a free app!!!
My only complaint, as a graphic designer, is the '70's style interface. The functionality makes up for it, though.

Be careful with the settings

I have mostly enjoyed this app.Two comments that I hope the developer(s) will be able to address. This evening, the first full day of NCAA football, it takes forever to access the Football section, I can only imagine that the server is slammed. And if you choose to "Customize Sports" by selecting the "Settings" button....well don't touch that (the Settings) button while they are all shaking, or else it will be deleted and then you can't access the "Settings" again. It is easy to delete more than a sport.

good but some problems

After using their webapp for some time, which is where this app takes you, i have noticed some problems.
During the U.S. open it stopped transmitting the correct scores that sunday, and it was difficult to find ei: what tigers at because the leaderboard is listed by score only.
And during euro 08' spain won a game in PK's but the sportstap page didnt have a way of showing this, the final score showed 1 1 with no indication of who won the game.
