Nothing really. This app was already wonderful and the developer still improved it. But today when I was asked a question about the EURO v USD this app didn't come in handy. The problem was that I couldn't find what the rate was the weel before, or the day before for that matter. I think you should add a chart or graph that shows the going rate as far back as a month just as stocks show such information. Great app none the less.

Use "I" switch this app to the currency for the country you're in... Drag your home currency to the top so you don't have to search for it. Switch back to the conversion chart. Whenever you need a calculation: Click on the source currency at the top, it will display a window with the name of that currency, then click on that window and type in the amount that you want to convert. You'll see the price in you native currency as well as many more.

I know the program is free, and actually it works great (at least the version BEFORE this update does)... but i'm giving it a crummy rating solely for the fact that I can't stand nonsense. I feel like Jeff is tryin to sneek something by on me. I mean the program is FREE... so, while I should quit my rant, I also don't care if you've added adverts or whatever.. JUST TELL US WHAT YOU'RE DOING, and not "This is an important update so please update immediately."

I like this app a lot. My version is 1.4. It has the correct UK flag and so far I have not seen any ads (good). 2 days later. I have seen the ad and don't like it. Pretty useless as well as I'm in Argentina.
Very simple interface. Enter 1 in your base currency to see exchange rates. Enter purchase cost in source currency to see cost in base currency (and other chosen currencies).
Good selection of available currencies and continues to work offline with most recent updated rates.
Wish list. 1. Remove the Ad. 2. Background colour selection. 3. Option to manually input exchange rate. IE Rate actually paid for currency.
Thanks for a very useful app.

As an airline pilot I travel a lot and this calculator is simply top notch. Very easy to use and I love the fact I can "rebase" any currency by making for example the Chinese ¥uan, the British £ound, etc. a new "base" currency. Great job!PS. Get rid of the Slovakian Koruna - they switched to the €uro on Jan 1st 2009 (not to be confused with Slovenia - another €uro nation).I couldn't find your email address so I'm posting this here.Otherwise, great app.

Really good app. Thanks a lot. Use regullary to see how well the USD is doing compared to the GBP as I visit the states often. However at the current time and the state the Market it is then sometimes the results are hardly ones to make you leap around Maybe the next update could include an "end credit crunch" button?!! To those who say adds spoil it. Stop complaining. I think it is perfectly reasonable for the developer of a free app to puts add on their work to make them a little bit of money. You don't like it? Then go spend money on a currency app. Also Reading a comment below someone asked if you could make it available offline, you can. Update it then turn off your wifi/3g/edge and it will just use the results stored in the cache, obviously you would have to add currencies before you went offline but one cached you can perform calculations as these are performed by the ALU, not the Internet Get this app and DONT complain about something that is free! This is a great App. In fact, for a free app, it is incredible. Definitely worth a buck or two for an ad free version. They now offer a Pro version, works the exact same except no ads. But they are charging $4.99! Sorry, that's too much just to lose ads and too much for users to simply thank the developer. Either come up with serious upgrade features of drop the price and I will pay for Pro. Meanwhile, please accept my virtual hearty handclasp.

To get downgrade to the old version

I found that if you want to 'downgrade' to the old version go to your music folder, then the itunes folder, then the mobile applications folder, find the most recent currency.ipa file (hover over it and the access date will be shown, simply pick the most recent) and then move that file somewhere else (i just put it in the itunes folder)-that way if you have any problems you can always move it back. Click on the currency icon in itunes (in the applications section of the library), right click and select 'get info'. Itunes will say cannot find file-would you like to manually locate it. Click yes and select the latest currency file that now remains. Sync your iphone/touch, deselect currency, the re-sync and reselect and it reloads the old file (which is the old version)-hence successful downgrading.
***Please remember that this is just a suggestion, you mess with your files at your own risk. I will not be held responsible if you delete the wrong files or cause any other problems. The instructions I have detailed are those that worked for me on my windows xp pc.***
For what its worth I prefer the new UI, just click on the currency and select the value you want and its displayed converted in the other currencies. So for me I think its an improvement.

This is a great app for converting currency or keeping up with exchange rates. There are ads, but they are out of the way. The app is free, so the developer has to make money some way... What I would love to see in a future update: - a "clear" button on the number pad when entering an amount of the current currency - an "inverese " button on the front page so you could switch back and forth without having to go through as many steps. Overall: great app and it has improved 10 fold over when I first installed it.

A quick roundup:
1.) With the latest update, application is very useful also on iPod Touch, as when you are out of WiFi connection, now application store previously downloaded exchange rates. So now application can be used without WiFi connection.
2.) Another good thing is a good support and feedback from the author. The new version fixed the most annoying problems that users have reported to author.
3.) A must have application if you travel across the globe. It's completely free! Highly recomended.

If the iPhone worked as well as this App!

I have just upgraded from the previous version and clicked whilst mumbling to myself that I suppose I'll have to re set my already chosen currencies.. I got my originally set page of currencies, all updated/upgraded and a tour of this remarkably easy to use application. I saw that an FAQ asked about changing the base currency from $US. A reasonable question from anybody scared of pushing buttons to see what happens or some same person who has never played with widgets.
If only Mac had consulted with you prior to release. If only this brilliant iPhone could be quite as brilliant as your app.
It is seldom that credit is paid where it is due. Unfortunately this is somewhat the case now as I have numerous syncing issues with my new iPhone and MobileMe and iTunes store. Not much is living up to the Apple reputation of doing what it says on the box.
Your app however, is brilliant. Before my iPhone I used a Nokia N95 and whilst somewhat compatible with my macs, well it wasn't really. And it's currency converter was really good, though you needed to research the actual exchange rates every now and again and reset them to have any hope of accuracy. And if you changed something, you started again. So that is what I was expecting when I upgraded. As you already know, that is not what I got. I got my originally set page of currencies, all updated/upgraded and a tour of this remarkably easy to use application.
If only Mac had consulted with you prior to release. If only this brilliant iPhone could be quite as brilliant as your app. Feel free to remind me in a couple of days or so to make the donation that I'm failing to make as PayPal doesn't recognise my (correct) password! If only you controlled their site too...

This app has a very clear layout, giving you 10 or so conversions on one screen. Great! But...if you have no web connection, it shows a blank- would be great to store the last data instead and show that. Some virtues are hidden: you can do conversions, but need to click the top bar to access this feature. Also you can add all sorts or currency, but you need to scroll the list to reveal this button in the info pane. All that said, it really is very very easy to get the info you want. ****

A great free app with tons of currencies and some precious metals. I'm not sure why people are complaining about ads. I don't notice them, and frankly I like free useful apps that function as tools in themselves. There are too many Lite versions of Apps that add zero functionality to our phones in my oppinion. If a tiny ad is the price to pay, fair enough! My girlfriend uses this in her phone often to determine when she'll send money overseas and the accuracy is fine. If you are a professional currency trader, I doubt you'll be looking at a free Iphone app let alone some website for up to the second accuracy, so this should function well for 99.999% of the population. To the developers: Thanks for making an easy to use app for free, and thanks for increasing the usefulness of my phone!

I am using app for more than 2 months now and find it really useful. This app has a huge range of currencies (even Mauritian rupees !!) and most of the time the rates are very accurate. It may not be exact as the bank rates, but very very close. The ads are ok too,it's a free app, let the guy make some money atleast. Over all a very very good app and thanks for theany updates over time. Atleast you keep improving the app rather than just letting it be there.

I like it, it's easy to use, it does what it's supposed to and the rates are accurate, what more can you ask? ;-) Small "complaint" though (more like a tip to the developer): the country flag for the British pound sterling is actually England's flag (St. George's). I personally don't mind, but you might want to use the UK's flag (google "union jack") to avoid alienating the Welsh, the Scotts and the Northern Irish. Also a contact email address would be useful as this place is for app reviews and I'm sure 99% of people don't care to read about my take on flags ;-) Overall I like it and find it very useful :-)
