I don't see what everyone's complaining about, I've had it for almost a week and it works great! It does just about everything I would ever want it to do! Great for the price! Even comes with a trip organiser and will let you know if your flight is delayed ahead of time (i have not used that feature yet so i am not basing my rating on it. Five stars for the rest of it though! (btw, I am using an iPod touch, not an iPhone.)

The latest version of this program is great. It remembers the airlines you use frequently, and has places to put in reservation codes and arrival/departure airports. The data that FlightStats receives isn't the greatest - but that is because the airlines aren't very good at reporting anything. When the airlines do report a problem, flightstats has the information sooner than the airline web pages (especially for United). A great tool for the frequent flyer.

Being a traveller, its great to keep track of flights in and out that could be delayed. I've tested this on my favorite USA flights and even flights in Australia and they all work. All the info is displayed clear and easy to understand. However it would be great to be able to swipe screens left and right and have the downloaded info in "cache" (like say the Fizz Weather app) instead of always having the status info "reload" every time. Do other customer reviewers agree?

One of the stress points in air travel is making connections between flights. If you have a short layover, it gets worse. As you get off one plane you need to head in the right direction for the next flight. Specifically, you need to know what gate your next flight is departing from. This app worked like a champ for me on my recent 3 day trip to NYC from Gainesville. The itinerary was Gainesville to Atlanta and then Atlanta to LaGuardia. Coming into Atlanta, my printed information from Delta told me one gate, but as the plane pulled up to the terminal I checked my iPhone and Flight Status for an update.
It's a shame, but the screen shot for this program doesn't show you the additional information about a flight that is available if you scroll down a bit. There I could see the Gate Number for my connecting flight to LaGuardia, and it was *different* from the gate number on my boarding pass for that leg. As I left the plane I was able to get the attention of a Delta agent and ask her what gate number for Flight (whatever it was) to NYC. Her answer confirmed that the iPhone and Flight Status was right, not the printed ticket. Flight Status had it all right on the way back to Florida as well. I can't say I totally trust it yet, but Flight Status and I have begun a relationship. It sure worked for me.

been using this app to check on flight status - not just for my own travel but those of my friends and family as well - it is really helpful to keep a track on arrivals and departures so you can plan more effectively.
Also the support is really great - sent a feature request and got an almost immediate reply, that they will implement it in the next release - so really feeling it with this one - cheers

This is a great application! As someone who works at SYD/YSSY this app comes in handy when I need information about flights at my fingertips, but am away from the schedule monitors! I only wish that info about SYD flights were issued separately in terms of domestic and international terminals, but I suspect this is an ICAO code issue rather than the application! I can tell this application will get a lot of use and I look forward to it making my job a little bit easier!

i have a flight tracker on my powerbook (dashboard widget) and was delighted to find an equivalent for the iphone. the information has always been accurate for me so far - even during the crazyness of this past xmas (i'm not sure what the fuss is all about with other reviewers - maybe it was from an older version). i guess if i had one more wish for this app it would be to have a map visual of the flight in progress. just because i think these are cool. ~ and my wish has been granted! :)

Very useful app as I travel a fair amount. I like the "My Trips" feature and now with some good updates just added. This makes it more than just a flight tracking program.
I do have a couple of small suggestions for the next update please....
- Have a "Favourites" list for the Airport and Airline sections.
- Make the month field in the date also scrollable. As it stands you have to scroll through all the days of each month to choose a date one or more months ahead.
Noticed a small bug where I was asked for a Trip "Name" when saving after editing a trip, even though I already had the "Trip Name" field filled out. Also noticed sometimes when adding flights on a "Trip", the information from the previous flight (from the same Trip) sometimes would carry over to the fields in new flight.

"Flight Status" vs "Flight Tracker"

Neither was able to find my wife's return flight from Cuba to Canada (although it appears on my airport's website under arrivals). But assuming the flight could have been found, it appears "Flight Status" has more search options than "Flight Tracker".
Flight Tracker has a nicer mechanism for remembering flights AFTER you have found them (Flight Status requires you be in data entry mode to remember a flight, not simply bookmark one you've already found and are reviewing). And Flight Status seemed incomplete or buggy when I was entering a trip... can we not edit an already created trip to add or change details?
I'm voting "Flight Tracker" DOWN and "Flight Status" UP because I value multiple search options to find a flight as the most important feature, and "Flight Status" search options are much better.
I hope Flight Status is further polished so trips can be edited, and that any flight found via search tools can be bookmarked or used as a starting point to create a "trip".

Convenient and Straight Forward

The interface is generally well thought out and it's a straight forward task to get flight information. There is still room for improvement. It would be nice if the airport status information included the name of the city of origin (arrivals) or of destination (departures) perhaps shown in a more condensed format to make better use of screen real estate. It would also be great if the flights position could be overlayed on a map and if there were a way to access current weather information for the origin and destination. Lastly, having an option to recurve updates on a given flight through both SMS and e-mail would be welcome.

This is a great concept, one that I have been waiting for for the iPhone. The only problem is the clumsy entry requirements. I was unable to search using the Flight tab because it constantly asked me to "Enter a flight number" or "Enter a valid flight number". Well, I had already done that of course. Searching for Emirates EK006, a daily flight from Heathrow. The Route tab finds it, but I tried entering "EK006", "EK6", "EK 006", "EK 6", "6" in the Flight tab. I ran out of alternatives. It would be helpful if there was some help to tell me what I was doing wrong! I'm going to send this to the developers too see what reply I get. Ho hum.
In addition, the x to delete the current entry in a field needs pressing 27 times (exaggeration) to clear the current data that the field holds. It's quicker to repeatedly press the delete button on the keyboard. But I've noticed that this is a common problem on downloaded apps. Apple apps don't have this problem.
Additional: I have worked out why the no/valid flight number error is being displayed and have reported it to the developer who has given a fast response to me. You have to make sure the field is not active by pressing Done on the keyboard prior to starting the search. Also you must only enter number without the preceding airline code (e.g. EK) and without the leading zeros. So entering 6 will search for the flight I was looking for (as long as the number field is not active). The developer promises updates to fix this problem.
I'm increasing my rating to 4 stars because of the good response and help received. Probably will go to 5 when the problem I reported is fixed as the application is fantastic.
More (26/5/2009): I've got the latest version and this has many improvements, but also some disappointments. The Trips section is rather clumsy. It takes several taps to get to the information you need. Tap 1: press Trips; 2: choose trip; 3: choose flight; 4: tap Flight Status. I think this needs to be simplified.
Also it is still not possible to enter the actual flight number as issued by the airline. Emirates (an airline I use regularly) use (e.g.) 001 as a flight number - with the leading zeros. This is how they publish their flight schedules. I had forgotten that this does not work in the application. You only need to enter 1. It would be nice for the application to accept the full three-digit code. Rating stays at 4 starts - this is still a very useful application.

Unlike “Flight T...” this one actually works! I used it while my girlfriend returned from visiting from Italy. Her flight included three legs and this App tracked them flawlessly. It also accurately tracked her delay on the final leg so it was easy to make an informed assessment.
The App does require that you enter each leg of your flight separately and I suspect the other flight Apps require the same. I mean; it’s currently not possible to track each connection based solely on a confirmation number unless the specific airlines offers their own App. Still, that would be cool as a future feature.
Feature Requests:
* Entering reservation/confirmation number automatically generates all connecting flight data.
* Dynamic cross-reference to “Flightware” database.
* View current flight in large font style similar to “Flight Track”.
* Add a field: Note Section
* Add a field: Airline Phone Number

It's not perfect -- sometimes it takes a good 15-20 minutes longer to reflect delays than it takes Orbitz to text message me about them -- but I like it and am not sorry to have spent the money. It displays everything on one screen, is easily searchable, and the trips feature lets you program an entire itinerary ahead of time with confirmation numbers, etc. Delays need to be posted more quickly, but otherwise, good stuff.

The best application for international travel

I have yet to see anything better for international travel. Yes the map is lacking and the gate no. is almost always blank and the developers must look into this, but the fact of the matter is that this application covers literally the whole world; Nairobi, Kenya, Cape Town South Africa, the far east, Europe, down deep in the south, name it. I am now able to see how many flights depart from Hartsfield to Amsterdam by the hour. This is fantastic. Developers! Add the map and show gate # and you will surpass all other travel applications ever developed. Bravo.

This is a much needed application. Thanks for creating it. Your screen displays are gorgeous, but if I'm trying to see all the flights departing or arriving at a certain time, it is difficult to scroll though the very long list. You could easily show 10 times as many flights on one screen as you do now. There is a lot of wasted space. Make it more like the screen at the airport, where you can quickly scan though dozens of flights on one screen. I would appreciate this change.

This is an very good app. Works well. However, can be easily made a bit more user friendly. Two suggestions for improvements: In the first screen, add a button for "now" so the current date and time does not need to be selected (and list flights accordingly). Another button can switch the departure/arrival airports for frequent round trip travellers, so everytime those two items don't need to be changed/selected again.

Good and will get BETTER!

This is one of the few apps that has a caring, professional developer who answers questions and responds quickly. It is handy and if some of the other suggestions are implemented, it will get even better. It beats walking around the terminal to find a status board and is quicker than bringing up the various web sites. I'd like to see a travel planner such as the one on Agendus for Palm. How about it?

Would Love A Summary Screen

This app has all the potential in the world and looks great. It would just be nice if there was a summary screen where you could list all your flights for a trip. i.e. If you have connections on the way out and back in, it would be great to have all 4 flights listed that you could go into. Otherwise, you have to keep track of flight numbers and it somewhat defeats the purpose of planning. With a summary screen, I would 100% recommend this app, without one, it still does what it says it will, that's why I gave it 4 stars.

I use flightstats.com a lot, and this app is a great iPhone interface to the web site.
However, the date picker when selecting a flight to view the status for only allows you to go back one day from today. This doesn't work when looking at a flight inbound to Australia from (say) LA, where the arrival date is departure +2. I was picking up a friend inbound to MEL from LAX on Feb 6, and couldn't select the correct departure date of Feb 4.
Other than that, it works well. Fix the date issue and it's a five star app.
