Reviews:
If You Fly a Lot You Need This App By: BurbankQuacker - Apr 11, 2009 Version: 2.2 This is a wonderful app and easily worth the price. It's easy to use and gives you lots of info. The informational updates are FAST! Last month I was in Heathrow Airport waiting for a gate assignment (the way it works there, you don't see your gate until maybe 30 minutes before boarding). The gate appeared on FlightTrack about 2 minutes before it was on the airport boards. So long suckers, I'm on my way to the gate! Also, for long international flights, I monitor the flight I'm going to take the last few days before my actual flight. It gives me valuable insight as to current delays, weather patterns, flight paths, etc. I can't live without this app!
Travel Much? Travel Must! By: D-Robs - 18-Dec-2008 Version: 1.1 This is an absolutely fantastic app if you or your family, friends, or collegues travel, and you need to keep track of the travel arrangements. This program makes vital travel information available to you that would normally only be accessible by pilots or air traffic controllers. Up-to-the-minute flight status, altitude, air-speed, and aircraft location are immediately accessible in the palm of your hand.
The author of the program assures me that he will be adding more airports to the data base. This is especially needed for some Canadian international airports.
Well written with a user-friendly interface makes this app one of the best I've seen for the travelling enthusiast. I highly recommend it with a full five stars.
AWESOME APP FOR FREQUENT FLIERS By: Frenchy750 - Mar 5, 2009 Version: 2.2 This is by far the most useful app I've found for the iPhone. Anyone that is a frequent flier will benefit greatly from FlightTrack. WHen flights are delayed, often times FlightTrack updated the flight status before the board in the airport does. I emailed Ben Kazaz (the author) with a suggestion about linking FlightTrack to the iPhone calendar, and he told me to stay tuned, something is in the works. Excellent app, worth every penny!
Great Application With Huge Potential By: MichaelVS - 29-Nov-2008 Version: 1.0 Have you ever used FlightView on the Internet to track a flight and check the aircraft's position? If yes, this application is definitely for you. If not, you should certainly give it a try. FlightTrack can track your flight and display the geographical location of the aircraft right on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Although the instructions say it works only for flights within the US, FlightTrack can actually track any flight originating or ending in North America. I have successfully tracked flights within Canada as well as flights from and to Europe and the Caribbean. Using the application is very intuitive: (i) search for a flight by flight number or by origin and destination, (ii) add it to My Flights list and (iii) display the flight information detail or the map view. I gave this application five stars because I believe it is well done and useful for an initial release, and it has great potential. FlightTrack is not perfect - it does not have a zoom function (yet) nor does it provide live view (instead, the application refreshes the screen automatically at five minute intervals or manually when you press the little refresh button in the lower left corner). Ben, the developer, is very responsive and wrote me that features like the ones I mentioned will be implemented in future releases. Overall, this is a great application for the iPhone or iPod Touch and its symbolic cost is money well spent. It is one of my favourite applications.
FlightTrack By: ESCADA23 - Feb 23, 2009 Version: 2.1 I performed a search in the App Store for a flight track program... FlightTrack showed up and based on the reviews it sounded like what I needed. I was at IAD (Dulles International) yesterday waiting on my Sister's arrival... FlightTrack actually updated her flight's status well before the airports electronic
status board updated! I was so excited to share this news with my Mom, knowing that my Sister had landed and was in Customs before the airport screens updated! That was well worth more than the price alone! Outstanding product. This is one of my top ten iPhone programs! Outstanding!
Note: Unfortunately I learned that the company has a Pro version after my initial search (which I would have purchased had it shown up in the initial search) and due to the limitations of the App Store I am not able to upgrade to the Pro version, without going through the hassle of getting a refund and then purchasing the Pro version. I am extremely happy with the version I have so the only loss is to Apple and the owner of the software!
Still great By: OnAirInc - Nov 4, 2009 Version: 2.7 I've been writing a review of each release, so what the heck.... v2.7 + I own most of the leading apps for tracking flights. I have found FlightTrack more accurate and more timely than any other app, both for U.S. and non-U.S. flights (And easier to use too.) With release after release that has not changed. + What's new in 2.7? I don't find much, but I'll keep looking. --- Used FlightTrack to track dozens of flight both dom. and internat. Simply great. Easy to use. Accuracy is great. I have known about delays and cancellations as much as 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE FLIGHT STAFF!
Perfect app for meeting people at the airport By: Asktog - Oct 20, 2009 Version: 2.5 If you are the one that's traveling, FlightTrack Pro, with its connection to TripIt, is the better choice and still an excellent value at $10, but if you are only going to be meeting people at the airport, you can't do better than FlightTrack, and, as I have discovered in experimenting with other apps, you can easily do worse. The thing that sets both FlightTrack apps apart from the rest of the crowd is the radar map. Instead of a fuzzy litle postage stamp, it shows enough information that you can actually see what is going on. Case in point: Our daughter was flying into San Francisco International. My wife and I joined a large crowd waiting patiently, then impatiently, as the arrival time came and went with no change reflected in the airlines flight-status board. When I opened the FlightTrack radar map, it became obvious why: The aircraft was hovering in the air around 25 miles from the airport. The scale was such that the aircraft appeared not to be moving at all, but the icon for the plane told the tale: It was slowly turning around and around in place, reflecting that the plane was stacked up in a holding pattern, turning in around a 2 mile long circle. Eventually, it broke from the circle and I watched it on the radar map as it came into final approach and set down. I was able to report all this information to the other, increasingly anxious greeters. It reduced the stress for all concerned. Everyone ended up impressed with FlightTrack, with the iPhone, and, by extension, me for being clever enough to have it. How much more could you ask from an app?
Great App within the limits imposed by the FAA / FlightStats By: RickFor - Oct 11, 2009 Version: 2.5 Best all-in-one App I found that combines gate, flight status and weather for single and multi-leg trips. The latest update includes the ability to select all legs of a multi-stop flight in one step. While I found the accuracy of the data very good, you do have to understand the accuracy is somewhat limited by the FAA and the FlightStats data service provider. The updated delay / gate information is sometimes a little late due to the FlightStats data service not having the most recent information. The most up-to-the-minute data is from the airline itself. As far as the inflight data being ~5 minutes late, that is the FAA. The FAA delays the data intentionally for security reasons. I have used this app several times every week for the last several months and haven't found these limits to have any real effect in catching flights. I’ll also second that the developer is excellent in answering questions and responding to suggestions for future versions. He even updates answers when I didn’t ask a question!
Chuck2020 By: Chuck2020 - Jan 24, 2009 Version: 2.1 This is a fantastic app. Allows nearly immediate access to Flt. info. that normally takes forever and infinite steps to get from airline websites. Capable of keeping track of multiple flts. allows me to keep track of my flts as well as my kids. Incidently I had a question about the app and got an answer within minutes from its creator even thought it was quite late at night. Highly Recommend
Purchased Flight Track, Upgraded to Pro...Very Nice! By: Oudiveboy - Nov 25, 2009 Version: 2.7 I am amazed that people are having issues with this app. It has never crashed on me or given me bad information. Now that I have upgraded to Pro and started to run my itineraries through TripIt, this has become an invaluable tool. Itineraries submitted via email to TripIt are updated almost instantly in Flight Track Pro! They must have a pretty slick itinerary recognition program to pull this off. Now that many flights have wifi on board, it's kind of fun to track your flight progress real time! Yes, I'm a geek and I love this application. Highly Recommended.

Awesome Flight Tracker By: tweddle - Nov 24, 2009 Version: 2.7 I've been using flightview online for a long time via the internet. Always having to bring my laptop along to track flights was getting old. I've been watching for an iPhone application that incorporated flightview into it, and voila, Ben makes one! I love this App! It works great!! I would like to see Real Time added to it, as well as zoom capability though. Other than that, if you track flights, this is the one! I even sent Ben an email with my wish list for Flight Track, and he emailed me back saying he would put that into future versions! For $5.00, it's worth every penny, I would've paid $10.00 for it. Way to go Ben!
Fantastic App! By: amp123 - 09-Jul-2009 Version: 2.3 A very good app that allows me to track family members flights for airport pickups aswell as track my own flights and then the connections for that flight. The map is very useful allowing me to see where my flight is and how far away it is from the airport etc. If you are a frequent flier I strongly recommend buying this app as it could be very useful in the airport on tight connections. Well done developer, definantly my favourite and most well made app.
Fantastic app!! By: Aston martin8* - Jan 15, 2009 Version: 2.1 I recently flew from Seattle to Minneapolis and as I was getting ready to go to the airport, I checked Flight Track and found out that my flight was delayed for two hours! If it wasn't for Flight Track, I would have been sitting around bored to death at the airport. Instead, I got to spend a little more with my family!
This app is definitely a must have for travelers. I understand that it will soon be possible to track international flights as well, which in my eyes will make this app absolutely perfect! I highly recommend this app. It is SO worth it!! Bravo to Ben!!!
One request to make it even better :-) By: Joncoynage - Jan 12, 2009 Version: 2.1 Love the app, works great!
The one request I have is for the possibility to see the flight duration, or something of that nature, it is often confusing trying to calculate how long it will be before a given flight lands or takes off if the time zones are different in the departure/ arrival cities. This would be a great addition when tracking. Friends and relatives to make sure their flight got to a certain location on time, or whatnot.

The best flight tracker on any platform By: Magic Spark - Jan 12, 2009 Version: 2.1 I love tracking flights, and this app is the best way to do it -- beautiful interface, stunningly elegant. This app feels so natural on the iPhone, it's like an organic extension of the built-in tools. Frequently updated with meaningful, thoughtful enhancements, this app is a fantastic tool for seeing where loved ones are in the air, meeting them at the airport, or tracking my own flights. On a recent flight, I pulled out FlightTrack the moment we were permitted to use our phones on arrival, and totally impressed the stranger next to me by finding out exactly to what gate and baggage claim we'd been assigned, when even the flight staff didn't know yet. He weakly held up his Blackberry and said, “there's nothing on here like that.” This polished, helpful app is a genuine pleasure to use, and is among the most useful on my iPhone. And, for the times when ‘utility’ isn’t exactly your goal, enjoy the fun of looking up a random flight by shaking the phone on the search screen. This app is truly a marvel, and I look forward to even more improvements! :)

Best flight tracking app on iTunes. By: -J-a-x- - Oct 11, 2009 Version: 2.5 This app has worked very well in my experience. The UI is great, it often gives you gate information, and the tracking / searching works very well. Not much else to say about it. The only downside is that sometimes the flight status is delayed 15 minutes or so from the airline's data, but it's not really that big of a deal. Also, I should mention that the developer is very good and getting back to me quickly when I have a question to ask, which is more than I can say about many other apps on here. Yes, it's a bit expensive for an iPhone app but in my opinion it's worth it. There's nothing else out there that compares.
Love it! By: Double Down778 - Oct 8, 2009 Version: 2.5 Just used this app a ton in the past two weeks because I was on 10 flights and friends were on 4. What a huge help this was!!! The real time flight progress is off by a bit, but the real value is in having flight #, flight times, and especially gate info all in your hand at all times! I will never fly again without this app. This is a damn cool app and well worth the measly $4.99. Just get it.
