By the publisher of Where The Locals Eat dining guides (www.wherethelocalseat.com) ------------------------ Responses to some of our feedback: Dear "Wingag09" - Not sure what you mean by cookie-cutter? We were one of the very first travel apps in iTunes. When we built our app...there was nothing to copy. Also, we built all our lists from scratch, and stand behind our choices. We think we provide a ton of info, but you can please everyone. Dear "Iron-Eagle" - We currently feature over 200 restaurants in the Los Angeles area. But, there are a few neighborhoods that only have a couple restaurants. Sorry, our approach is not to be democratic - but to feature only the best restaurants. Dear "Dougleous" - Ft. Collins is a great town, but not one of our 50 featured cities (see our list above). However, we do list 10 fantastic restaurants in Ft. Collins. Our philosophy is a bit different than other dining apps which cater to quantity over quality. We would rather offer 10 GREAT restaurants, than list a hundred "so-so" restaurants - an approach appreciated by those in search of a memorable meal. Greetings "bwaaaap" - Perhaps you are referring to another dining app because we don't list ANY national chains in Chicago. Dear "Robert504" - We list GREAT local places and our restaurant database is constantly updated. Dear "Golf Nut 99" - We feature a wide range of restaurants in all price ranges (not just upscale places). As our description states, outside the top 50 US cities - there may be limited coverage. Hello "KB1G" - Our "near me" feature uses Apple's GPS technology. Not sure how you could have received the error you described...perhaps there was a lot UFO activity that day. Dear "Jesus Is Watching And Judging You" - Our description is very clear and not dishonest in any way. God bless you. Dear "NjM1" - Apple recommends restarting your iPhone after the installation of any app.

Reviews:
Foodies should get this app! By: ChzHeadBanger - Jul 21, 2009 Version: 1.7.2 I love this app. Its well designed and is chocked full of Milwaukee's best. Been using several months and it's become one of my favorite apps. Be aware, this is not a comprehensive listing of all restaurants everywhere. They seem to be more selective than other dining apps - choosing only the best local places. This is what I really love about this app...I want to see the good stuff. I would recommend to those who consider themselves foodies!
Absolutely the best dining app By: Larry Jenson - Jul 19, 2009 Version: 1.7.2 I recently used on a road trip to Chicago and it and it did not steer me wrong once! What a life saver. Beside being right on with the content, it very, very easy to use and pretty darn elegant in it's design. I've also tried the Urban Spoon, but did not care for it - they don't seem to be as selective with their restaurants, and I'd rather not waste time reading through a bunch of user reviews on my iPhone. LocalEats just gives me the best...which I like. 99 cents is cheap for what you get.
Certainly better than the hotel breakfast. By: Pack Wolf - Jul 16, 2009 Version: 1.7.2 My family and I went to Atlanta last weekend and we used LocalEats to help us choose a breakfast place - it listed the Flying Biscuit Cafe as the best breakfast in town. This was not near our hotel, and we were tempted to save money by choosing the free breakfast in the lobby. However, weren't in a hurry so we decided to go to the "Biscuit" and we are so glad we did. Even though there was a bit of a wait, the breakfast was absolutely fantastic, which really got our Saturday going in the right direction. Without the app we would have settled for the cheap hotel eats or worse... This single recommendation was well worth the 99 cent price for the app.
Think Globally. Eat Locally. Support Mom & Pop's! By: Ashley Funt - Jul 6, 2009 Version: 1.7.2 The near me feature is wonderful. However, the best thing is that there no McDonalds, Hardees, Wendy's, Domino's, TGI Friday's, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, KFC, Taco Bell, Burger King, Chick-Fil-A, Subway, Waffle House, In-n-Out Burger, Shoney's, Arby's, Outback, Popeyes, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Quiznos, Tony Roma's, Little Caesar, Long John Silvers, iHop, Ruby Tuesday's, or Sizzler in their listings. LocalEats has lowered my cholesterol. Thank you.
Holy Toledo Batman!!! What a Devine App! By: Chuck Norris is Watching and Judging You - Jul 6, 2009 Version: 1.7.2 I really don't get someone going "biblical" over a 99 cent app. Can you say, "overreaction"! Or somebody moaning 'cause they had to restart their iPhone after they installed it....HUH?? We are officially a nation of whiners. The thing is - LocalEats is a good app. But if it wasn't a good app, (say they neglected to it list my favorite french fry boutique), I sure wouldn't go postal, or ask God to strike down the app with great wrath....wtf? How 'bout this, all you terribly "sad" or "annoyed" one-star'ers please send me your address so I can send you a VHS of Walker Texas Ranger. Maybe it will help you find a pair. LocalEats is a great app...so step off.
Great Application When... By: ooartist - Oct 9, 2009 Version: 1.7.2 ... you are in the cities they have restaurants for. I travel frequently. I recently used this application in Atlanta, and Raleigh. It gave me a nice selection of restaurants to pick from. The only catch is don't expect it to give you many restaurants if your not in the cities it supports. The thing I like most about this application is it truly is a guide to good restaurants instead of just a list of every restaurant around.
A Wonderful Finder of Great Eats By: Ric79 - Jun 30, 2009 Version: 1.7.0 Purchased this wonderful app for use on the Original iPhone with OS2x; worked like a charm. I live in the Baltimore area and I've been pointed to more, previously unknown to me, local eateries than I ever knew existed! I received the new 'iPhone 3G S' along with OS3x on Friday, 6/19; this app worked perfectly on the new iPhone, right out of the box. Was in New Orleans last week for a conference and this app pointed me to some of the best local eateries for both breakfast and dinner; I'd have never found many of them on my own. Compare this app to UrbanSpoon....? I find that UrbanSpoon provides excellent coverage [in Baltimore and New Orleans] of the $10.00 - $25.00 meal establishments to include local chains while LocalEats provides coverage of the higher end establishments, usually $20.00 to $40.00 meals, and some local chains are not represented. I am not saying UrbanSpoon doesn't support the high-end establishments; it does. Both are excellent apps and for me, both are used in unison to provide the best possible locals to suit my immediate taste buds!

Works Great!!! **MUST BUY*** By: victor Tight Pants - Jun 11, 2009 Version: 1.7.0 I noticed when I first looked at this App, that there were a lot of one star ratings, so I was unsure if i should get it. so I did, cause there would good reviews for this app too, and im glad I got it! plus it's only $0.99! so it's a good deal! I tried it in my area and it found alot of good restraunts, and some I didn't even know that were around my area! It works great, I can't wait to try it on my vacation, Hope it works! I say Buy It!
Surprisingly good selection. By: Jack5000 - Mar 5, 2009 Version: 1.6.1 Someone gave me a Where The Locals Eat: New York for x-mas - and it's pretty cool. I saw the ad for LocalEats in the book so I downloaded it. Let me tell you - this thing rocks! I eat out every meal, and it has proved very handy. Things I love: 1) I can pick near me and the GPS shows what restaurants are close, 2) I can search by neighborhood - and NY is all neighborhood, 3) It has turned me on to some great places I would have never walked in to, 4) It has a good selection of medium and cheap eats, not all high-end places (I eat out a lot...but I don't want to go broke). Bottom line: besides Pandora, this is my favorite app.
Great results in Phoenix By: Stan Prosky - Feb 16, 2009 Version: 1.5.0 I used it this past weekend when I visited my sister in Phoenix. LocalEats recommended a place my sister had never been to (she's got 4 small kids so she doesn't go out to eat much), Vincent on Camelback. It was truly incredible and we could not have been more pleased. I used the app one more time for breakfast Sunday morning (rather than subject myself to the hotel buffet) and it pointed me to Good Egg - another winner. I've definitely been rewarded for my 99 cent investment.
Useful and Easy By: miktootall - Aug 17, 2008 Version: 1.2.5 After reading some of the reviews on this app, I was a little hesitant, but since I DO live in one of the markets and travel a lot, I thought I would see for myself. This app is right on. Easy to use, sort by category, and I even called to get reservations last night with the touch of one button. My wife likes that you can see the websites for the restaurants too (she likes to check out the menu before we go somewhere). I would've paid way more for something this useful. Thanks!
Hesitant, but now I love this app By: 4x4Adventures - Aug 9, 2008 Version: 1.2.5 I bought this because I live in one of the featured cities and even for 0.99 cents I was hesitant. I visited their website and found it very complete, so I bought it and WOW, I didn't realize how many hidden gems I find here. For the most part the results are spot on, what a good resource. Looking back knowing what I know now, even if I did not live in one of the covered cities but thought I would visit one somtime, I'd buy it. They seem to support it with updates, nice interface and for 0.99 cents what are you waiting for?

Love this for DC restaurants! A "TOP FIVE APP" on iphoneappadvisor (dot) com! By: DCFoodie - Aug 1, 2008 Version: 1.0.0 We dug into this app for our website review, and found it to be the best among all restaurant-finding apps. With just a few taps, we located some great restaurant "finds" in the DC metro area. Don't let the fancy fork fool you -- these selections aren't necessarily the most expensive or fancy. Rather, they seem to be the best places that locals like to eat, by category. So fancy is there if that's your thing -- but so are out-of-the-way amazing BBQ joints, red-hot sushi bars, local taverns with the best burger, etc. If you've got an iPhone and don't want to carry this book around, don't leave home without this app. Great use of GPS features on iPhone. Really, really, freaking cool.
