The application I use the most  rating of Seattle Bus
By: tribal knowledge - Sep 14, 2008
Version: 1.0.2
As I don't own a car, I rely on King County Metro for most of my traveling around the city. Once the ability to make custom buttons was introduced, I made a link to Metro's Bus Tracker website. One must view multiple pages and re-size each one to get the information you need (and you have to scroll left to right due to the layout). Seattle Bus is a great way to get actual bus times in a straightforward way. In a future version, it would be great to have access to bus schedules and maps as well.

Great application for Seattle bus riders  rating of Seattle Bus
By: HeroicAutobot - Jul 30, 2008
Version: 1.0.2
I use this application at least twice every weekday, and usually more frequently than that. If you ever find yourself standing at the bus stop wondering when the bus will show up, here's your answer. It's faster, more convenient, and easier to navigate on the iPhone than the MyBus.org web pages.
Twice now the "find nearest bus stop" has been a huge time saver for me. It's great for not only finding nearby bus stops, but quickly locating the stop you're at if it's not already in your favorites.

My most useful app!  rating of Seattle Bus
By: sprince - Jul 29, 2008
Version: 1.0
This app is a savior for Seattle bus riders. It's very useful for my daily commute and for random bus excursions. Well worth $10. It includes major stops for both metro and sound transit (not sure about other systems). You can save your "favorite" stops that you use often and it can use gps to find nearby major stops! Google maps and metrokc and mybus are free but a PAIN to use on the iPhone to find bus times. This app takes about 10 seconds. Some suggestions to make this app even better: 1- Please start the app on the "favorites" screen. The entire list takes a while to load and most of us will use favorite stops. 2- listing "minor" stops would be very nice, especially if lost and using gps to find a stop! 3- a better looking but just as functional interface would be much appreciated. Maps and whatnot are nice too but I'd rather have the above. Thank you and I'll keep an eye out for future apps!

excellent for Seattle bus commuters  rating of Seattle Bus
By: upright Seattleite - Jul 23, 2008
Version: 1.0
While it is not so different from a book-markable web page, this program is valuable to those of us who commute by bus in Seattle, or know what bus we are trying to catch. It transforms the web page into a compact iPhone format, and turns how much the bus is late into the more useful number, how long until it arrives.
I now can find out with one or two clicks how fast I need to get to the bus stop. If the bus is not there, I can now find out how long until it arrives, i.e., how late is it running. No need to call my wife in puzzlement to see whether I missed it or not.
I'll probably use this app twice a day, and would pay twice the price for it, although it is surprising such a specialized app is available. As a previous reviewer stated, please make the favorites the start page, and save us one click most of the time. Better still, make a chosen bus stop the default, with a button for the second favorite, as I'll probably want the same two pieces of information every day.
[edit - Now that I've used it a week, I've upped the rating to 5 stars. There's room for improvement, my previous suggestions plus separation based on which way the bus is going would also be helpful, for example, but it's the app I use the most out of the ten+ that I have, and it delivers. No more sweating out the last leg walking to bus, with the 2-5% chance of only watching it zoom away. Sometimes knowing the bus isn't coming for 20 minutes, and I can get a coffee walking to the bus stop. Very nice.
No one wants to turn on the wireless and have to bring up a whole set of web pages when one can just fire up this app.]

Seattle Bus or Seattle Metro  rating of Seattle Bus
By: mgcaputi - Dec 17, 2008
Version: 1.1.1
I've been using both Seattle bus apps, this and Seattle Metro. Both work well and are great tools for regular commuters. This apps represents results in bus number order and provides the scheduled arrival time as well as expected arrival in minutes. Metro lists results in expected order of arrival at the stop; it does not provide the scheduled arrival time, only expected arrival in minutes. The perfect app would allow a user to switch between arrival order and bus number order as both can be helpful. It would also include the scheduled arrival time. And for good measure it would allow you to filter on bus number.

Clean simple way to know when my bus is arriving.  rating of Seattle Bus
By: KungFuLego - Sep 4, 2008
Version: 1.0.2
This is a great replacement for having numerous, slow-to-load and hard-to-read, MyBus links on my iPhone. In Seattle Bus you find the bus stops that you're interested in by searching or using the iPhone's location aware feature. It then shows you how soon the different busses using that stop are arriving. You can also mark bus stops as favorites, making them easy to get to when you need them.
The app looks nice and is incredibly easy to use. An app that makes my life easier and more pleasant is easily worth the cost of one lunch.
Complaints (minor ones)
1) as soon as a bus reaches the stop, it seems to disappear from SeattleBus, it would be nice if, like MyBus, it would say "Departed at xx:xx".
2) It would be nice if I could filter my favorites by bus number. I have some stops that easily show 15-20 busses. I'd like to just see the 4 busses that I'm interested in.

Worth the price for frequent riders  rating of Seattle Bus
By: Brett Hovenkotter - Jul 31, 2008
Version: 1.0.2
The overall score for this app is misleading because many of the low scores are complaints about the price. I understand why this might be priced a little higher than others because it has a much smaller audience (Seattle bus riders).
The updates have improved the experience a lot. It is faster and defaults to the Favorites screen. My only suggestion would be more integration with maps.

Plenty of Potential  rating of Seattle Bus
By: hunk du jour - Jul 30, 2008
Version: 1.0.2
Despite the nay-sayers, I think this app has a lot of potential and am happy to invest in it. My only complaint thus far is trying to map my regular stops against the MyBus data -- but that is a problem I have with their service and not this app.
I think having a Google Maps representation of the nearby bus stops would be really powerful... along with some sort of icon or pin for where the "time check" locations are at -- it would mean expanding the scope of the application to show all stops and not just time points, though. Having at least mapped timepoints would be nice.
I'd love to see a tie-in with TripPlanner somehow... either by being able to do that within the app (a challenge, I'd imagine) or at least providing a clean front-end to be able to go to results at the King County Metro website.
One thing other reviewers aren't seeing - the powerful thing with this app isn't the bus stop list... it's seeing that the 550 is running 15 minutes late, but another one is coming 4 minutes behind it. (So grab the 2nd one or face the wrath of a bus packed tighter than a sardine can!)

It's a handy app  rating of Seattle Bus
By: KarenH58 - Jul 19, 2008
Version: 1.0
I live south of Seattle and this means I can't depend on the bus to arrive according to the posted times or according to Metro's site. So it's very handy to know when it's really going to arrive, especially when I have to have someone pick me up at the stop (I've got a broken ankle). Very handy if the bus also has wireless. By the way, I have to say this: I'm ticked off at the constant complaint of some very selfish, stingy people who say pretty much every single app should be free. Many of these programmers are freelancers who are trying to make it on their own, and are making the equivalent of fast food wages. Demanding free apps is like having your boss demand you work for free. You try living on a nonexistant paycheck for a while and see how that feels. No, I'm not a programmer, but I've seen enough who have given away so much of their work in the hopes that someone will fork over some bucks to pay, that they've had to give up the dream of programming what they love...because of some skinflint who can afford an expensive iPod but won't pay dirt for software. Yeah, I'm willing to pay the 10 bucks because these guys have to feed their kids, too.

Better than I first thought  rating of Seattle Bus
By: yokunaikoto - Jul 19, 2008
Version: 1.0
It is nice to be able to quickly look up actual arrival times instead of the guesses printed at the stops. This app will give you very accurate estimates as to the arrival times of your sought bus. For me the location finder has worked really well to find my stops. I go to the stop, use the location finder, and save my stop to favorites. Sadly I haven't had much luck with the list of bus stops. Search is too slow and many stops have different names than I would have expected, so without the location finder. I am happy with this application, but I will be happier when I can find my stop from the app without having to be in the physical location first.

Take it from a daily bus rider....  rating of Seattle Bus

I am on the bus right now. App works perfectly as described. This program is geared towards those of us that are daily bus riders on regular routes. This program will replace my "Bus Locater" button. But realize, this is not a trip planner app.

Saves my life. Just add lookup by route....  rating of Seattle Bus

I love this little app. I used to go to mybus.org all the time, but now I've got one-touch on Seattle Bus to find how long until my next bus arrives.
Now, if only Seattle Bus could add lookup by route and integration with Google Maps.... it would be just about perfect.
