Great App, almost perfect - better features than the others

Application works as described. Easy to use and it remembers the last check that was entered. which is handy if you accidently closed the app or want to input the transaction into your registry later. The number selection dials may be difficult for the uninitiated or those with poor dexterity. You can see exactly what the app will look like on your iPhone/touch if you visit the tap tap tap website. That is how I made my decision to buy, that and the rounding feature.
The only suggestions I want to give to all creators of these Tip Apps is that the description should say how many ways the check can be split (this app will split up to 25 ways!) and that there should be an option to round the entire check up or down to the nearest whole dollar. In other words a check for $46.87 could be made into an even $56.00 with a $9.13 or $57.00 with a $10.13 tip.

This app works great as described! You can quickly enter the amount of your bill and select the tip %, then have it round the tip up, down, etc, or have it round the total amount up, down, etc. which is great for paying by credit card when you just want a round number.
You people complaining about support for Sales Tax are completely insane! Have you NEVER NOTICED the SUBTOTAL on your bill??? That is the amount BEFORE TAX that you can enter if you're so obsessed over not tipping on the after tax total! You're smart enough to buy some of the greatest electronics, but you're stupid enough to not know what the SUBTOTAL is??? Are you serious??? OMG, people need to get a grip!
If it's that important to you, then round down or select a lower % for the tip. Messing with sales tax isn't something that is easy to accommodate for all states. Do none of you know anything about business, numbers and math??? WOW!

v2.1 brings back some great features

I'm delighted to see the multiple rounding options reappear in this version. I was disappointed when they were removed in 2.0, but now that they're back, it makes the app that much more useful. I also find that the number pad makes entering amounts a LOT easier. While the "odometer"-style dial was more visually interesting, the numeric keypad works a lot better. Thanks for continuing to improve the app!

This a great application. Nothing to really complain about here. It works as advertised, looks great and has some helpful settings. I don't see what people are complaining about referring to the scroll wheel. The scroll wheel matches many other apps and works great. As far as people not liking the rounding, how lazy can you be? This app does the job quick and is user friendly, while calculating in style. 99 cents is well worth it, after all someone did take a little time to put this together. A+ from me.

Sure, you can use the calculator and do the math, then split the bill between 6 people, then lose track of what you were doing, then start all over again. Or, because you've got a handy iPhone and you want to show off the wonderful screen, you can purchase this great looking application for less than a buck. It's not only worth the money, but it works extremely fast. I'd expect nothing less from the people that created CoverSutra. Great stuff!

... I bought this app because it's gorgeous. There are plenty of free tip calculators out there and they work too, but I guess I'm a sucker for good design. I will say that I did like the way you rolled the rollers to select the price in the previous version over the calculator style that has been implemented now. I also understand that Tipulator people did this because people complained they couldn't put cheques of over $1,000 in the app. I'd like the choice. Also, did anyone notice you can tap on the mint candy?

I make it a habit to get the iPhone out when dining with friends so I can use the Tipulator.
I wish it had two features to it however:
1) Reset values upon app start. My desktop calculator doesn't remember by last computation, this shouldn't either.
2) For speed and ease of use, I'd like to avoid entering the decimal - so I get 19.99 by entering 1999.
Despite that, I enjoy the app.

It's very useful for the check splitting (better for cash payment when tip is included); however, for credit card split with tip separate, it can be done with a small workaround using the 0% tip field. As far as having tax included in the total all you have to do is subtract 10 % from tip amount..not a big deal but should definitely be part of update. I like it a lot -- worth having for the girls night out -- even if seldom used

No, of course you don't 'need' this app. But for only 99 cents it's worth it just for the beautiful UI. Best looking tip calculator that I've seen and has all the basic features needed. Has the spit and polish that you expect from an OS X app, but on your iPhone. The only improvement I would suggest is a faster load time of the previous data, but I have no idea if that's a limitation of the iPhone or the app.

Nearly Perfect

With the 1.0.1 update, "Tipulator" added the ability to round the entire total up or down, and thus provided me with all I cared to have in a tipping app.
My only suggestion is the option to swap the "Price is Right: Showcase Showdown" wheel with a keypad. I saw something very close to this on the developer's blog, however it was obviously not implemented with 1.0.1. I have bigger fingers, so quickly finding certain digits can take a try or two. However, my wife loves the UI experience the wheel brings. And speaking of user-interface—thank you Sophia and John for a terrific looking app. Who wants to look at an eyesore while they're calculating the gratuity? Free or not?
Keep producing helpful, beautiful apps and you'll always get my money.

Perfect for figuring out tabs

As a professional stunt bike rider I often eat dinner with upwards of 60 people at once and am tasked with figuring how much money each person needs to leave on the table. This application is handsome and straightforward - which is exactly what I am looking for. Check total. Percentage of tip. Number of people at table.
That's it! It works.
It was a good use of 99 pennies.
Only complaint is that it has a somewhat slow load time. Hopefully they will figure out what is causing that and fix it in an update.

Over and over, Tipulator has saved the mood of our dinner parties. No more fussing over who owes what. And it's easy to adjust the number of people paying in, in case it's someone's birthday. I heart this app, and so does everyone I go out to eat with. Thanks!

Yes, the "before tax" obsessors are idiots -- SEE SUB-TOTAL you morons. This is a great (and cute) app! And totally worth the money! I am goin to get alot of use out of this app and can't wait to use it when we travel to St. Barth (for the euro feature)!!!!

I've had this app forever and love love love it!! Everytime I use it- I smile. Just plain amusing to use. I don't ever "need" to figure the tip/ split check etc.. Hubby or super sweet kids always treat me to meals. But, always use the app and it has always worked just fine from day one. 8 months and counting....
