Frequently travelling by train in the Netherlands? With Trein on your iPhone or iPod touch you can quickly see when your train will depart and from which platform. It is no longer necessary to go to the NS website, because Trein will give you all the information you need!
FEATURES:
– View realtime departure times for the nearest station and your preferred stations
– View disturbances and railworks
– Plan trips using the planner that will remember your lines
– Support for iNap so that you'll be woken when you reach your destination (iNap separately available in the App Store)
— View full timetable and train number of departing trains and planned trips (can be inaccurate or unavailable)
Everything except viewing saved plans requires an internet connection (cellular or Wi-Fi). Full timetables and train numbers are fetched from Somda.nl. Realtime travel information is fetched from the website of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways) and will not always be in English. This software is not made by or otherwise affiliated with the Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

This is my favourite app; I would recommend anyone living in or frequently visiting the Netherlands buy an iPhone just to run this app. Get frequently updated, fully accurate custom itineraries on the fly and in English. Head out on a complex trip without any advance planning. Know about delays before they make announcements and reroute around problems (summer is coming, get ready for the delays) without breaking stride. The developer makes constant little improvements and is very quick to respond to emails. If you think you might like this app you will absolutely love it.

Train shows how powerful the iPhone really is. Everything the train traveller needs is in the software now with v1.6.. The end result is a smooth journey because all the info is live on screen. If you would like to sleep that's possible too with the intergration of iNap through GPS. Even Steve himself was impressed. All public transport apps should have wat Train has.

I haven't left for my trip yet, but the amount of detail found in this program is great. This will make a very confusing train system much easier. I would suggest adding a map of the train system.
