I was lucky enough to pick this up for free not too long ago, but I'd happily pay any reasonable asking price for such a handy application. Convertbot does just about everything you could think to need conversions for. I've actually used this on a daily basis since and it has won a special place at the head of my apps list on my phone. Very useful when I'm at places like the supermarket, GNC, and any electronics store, as it's option for computer memory conversion is absolutely necessary for my line of work. I would recommend this app to anyone, as I have with all my friends. Definitely worth the .99 cents asking price!

Perfect for the flooring industry

This app is by far the best, most usefull conversion tool ever. I work in the flooring industry and I need to be able to make quick adjustments on the fly. This app not only saves time but, it is also fun to use. I really enjoy the layout and it is very easy to use once you've seen the demo. I recommend this app to anyone needing to make a conversion or is even just curious how much something is equal to in another unit of measurement. Great for students too :) P.S Press the i to change options like currency types. There are over a hundred I believe. Peace

Finally, a $0.99 app that isn't crap. The program feels like actual thought went through the UI and design of the program. It's very slick. Some other currency conversion apps do not work at all if you do not have a data connection. This was a big problem when I brought my iPhone to Hong Kong. I took out the SIM card to avoid roaming fees, but I still liked having the iPhone in an offline mode for translation apps. The currency apps I purchased did not work at all because they couldn't download the latest rates. This one does work without a data connection.

I have to say, it's discouraging to see those who paid 99 cents (1.99 at most) mad because we made Convertbot free for a limited time. It's not like you invested a lot of money. You are the ones who support our company and keep us going. We didn't make Convertbot free to screw paid users. We made it free for a short time to get the word out about our app and company. Without people paying for our software, there would be no Tapbots. So we really appreciate those who have helped spread the word and especially those who have supported us tremendously by paying for the app. Thanks!

I was impressed with WeightBot, and now my amazement at the great designs coming out of Tapbots continues. Convertbot takes a rather boring genre of app -- a unit converter -- and turns it into something that is extremely usable. There's obvious thought put into every element of the app's design, from the demo mode to the sound effects. While I've taken other converter apps (even free ones) off of my iPhone, Convertbot has found a place to stay on my iPhone's home screen. Convertbot is well worth the $0.99 price tag, and I can't wait to see what comes out of the Tapbots lab next.

It looks like the tapbots team has done it again. The UI on ConvertBot is simply amazing. I wish you didn't "have" to click "OK" to confirm what you what to convert from however. You should just be able to tap what you want to convert to without clicking ok. One really nice feature is that when you're converting currency this app auto-updates the current exchange rates from the web so you're always correctly converting for whatever dollar type you're working with. It's worth it for that feature alone. If you do payroll it also converts hours, days, minutes and the list goes on. Overall great app. Can't wait to see more! - @jtjdt

Simply put, brilliant. In response to the review by ploth(12/4/09); to swap around the figures, you don't need to re enter the numbers from scratch,; just tap the forward & backward arrow at the bottom of the calculator pad in the middle. Alternatively, tap the top section with the converted numbers in them & the dial screen returns.(& here's the tip) the "BIG BLUE BUTTON" in the centre does the same job & reverses the figures as well !!! I agree with you that the descriptions are a bit small, but I find them easy enough to read,& so do all the other friends of mine who've seen it, used it & bought it themselves. ......Maybe you need glasses?

Precisely, I love this app!! It is probably the most useful, versatile app on the AppStore. You can't go wrong downloading this app - it has currency conversion for possibly EVERY CURRENCY IN THE WORLD!; and that's just a small part of it. Plus it's free. I can use this app for school (mostly high school Physics), banking, maths, and just playing around (I love the robotic sounds :P). Trust me...get this app....you won't regret it. I would have gladly paid 5 bucks for it, but it's free!

Between this and "Convert" from Polar Bear Farm, iPhone users have some nice choices in conversion apps. I feel that Converbot's interface is superior - prettier and more intuitive. I didn't compare how many types of conversions each can do but Convertbot certainly does everything I could need it to. This is one of the rare fantastically designed iPhone apps. Don't hesitate to support the developer by dropping $0.99 on it.

This was my first paid app on the iphone and I don't regret it whatsoever! I remember seeing the demo video for the app and getting really excited. When I finally had it on my phone I was so excited as I waited for the wait screen to open. Once in the app you're greeted with a unique UI that is complimented by fitting sounds for each interaction you have with the application. I never thought a convert app would ever be useful but being in a long distance relationship with someone who lives in Germany this has been a lifesaver many times over. I highly recommend this app for anyone who needs to do some converting. I've had it since version 1.0 and since then have seen many delightful updates with each revision. Keep up the good work tapbots!

I love this application! Tapbots have outdone themselves producing it. It takes the boring notion of unit conversion and makes it elegant and simple, even fun to use!
This app has instantly replaced any other converters I had in use, particularly due to it's look. It's so neat and beautiful that it really fits with the aesthetics of the iPhone itself. The little sound effects it makes when you interact with it are very satisfying too and show that the developers have really gone the extra mile producing this software.
It's good to see somebody doing their best to produce a quality application that really stands out in a sea of quickly (and poorly) made apps. Who could have known converting values could actually be entertaining or pleasing to look at?

This app deserves an Apple design award. Its outstanding. I seriously open this app even when I don't need it just because it's UI is just so sleek, intuitive, and sexy. Its got sweet soundeffects to go with the movement of the different parts of the UI. But thats not it...this thing is loaded with things you can convert with. i never even knew about half the measurements in this app. Definately suggest you pick this app up!!!!!

Stellar app, upgraded from 4 to 5 stars with the new update. They just added a bunch of new currencies and units that you can convert. Even more nifty, now you can pick and customize the conversions you use the most. No more endless scrolling, trying to find the unit you want. Beautiful work from the developers. ******* Excellent app, the interface looks and feels amazing. I love that it remembers the last units that you chose, so that you only have to enter the number when you need to convert something. Only thing that needs improvements is the currency, needs more selection. Maybe some way to add the odd one you need, so as to not overload the interface. (I was looking for Taiwanese Dollars)

This app is amazing, ! I'm currently taking a high school chemistry class and I find this app very usefull when converting to SI units. No app out there like it! .99 cents is way worth the price! All the different conversions have been pretty awesome. The real secret it going into preferences add removing all of the conversions that you don't need, to make scrolling through the wheel a whole lot easier. Great buy 

The power section alone (with tons of cooking) makes my day. Great interface and very responsive, too. In part this review is to help balance out those who say "great, just needs one thing" and then give it only ONE STAR! Good app, well worth it. Addition: It's useful enough that it is now a "page one" applicauon on my iPhone. The only thing I would change is that non-enabled conversions in the preferences are hard to read, I have to enable all of them and uncheck the ones I don't need. A very minor complaint, overall one of the best apps I've seen.

All-in-all, a pretty good application.

Convertbot does everything it says in the description. It has a slick interface that will be readily familiar to Weightbot users, along with great sound design. However, I've found the interface to be not incredibly intuitive. It's pretty, it's fun, but it's simply not as good as other unit converters on the App Store (actually, only one). Coming in a close second place in the list of unit converters for iPhone, Convertbot foes a great job and gets a solid four stars.

The user interface on this app makes it fun to rub conversions. I use the app daily on the job, and have yet to lose the giddy feeling that I get when turn the dials and press the buttons. It's like living in the future. Not only does the app look good, it also works well. The UI is intuitive and the buttons are just plain easy to touch. When running through a list of numbers I never have to stop to curse my clumsy fingers. Moreover, they keep updating the app and making it better. The new calculator function makes it near perfect. Overall, it's a great app at a great proce that is a real joy to use.

A brilliant conversion app. Makes a mundane task enjoyable and a little fun! Ignore what others are saying about limited conversion units (eg only 11 currencies) click the info button in the bottom right to customise the units you can use (136 currencies at present. Not 11!) and you can also see the date and time they were updated. There are many more currency categories to choose from as well. A great purchase for 59p

update: they have addressed all the suggestions I made in my review, and now this app is 100% perfect!!! thank you so much to the dev!!!! (still waiting for Tipbot though... hint hint) i love this app! it looks sexy and is really well put together. it might not be the most powerful conversion app out there, (i also like Measures), but nothing else even comes close to quality of Convertbot. the only category i might want to convert that Convertbot is missing is data (like bits to gigabytes).
i'm a UI guy, which is the only reason i could find any reason to give it 4 starts instead of a perfect 5... but this is still only 1.0 so i'm crossing my fingers that Tapbots updates this app to be flawless. it would be nice if the wheel kept spinning if you flick it (like scrolling up/down on the iphone). also, when i'm spinning the wheel my finger wants to start moving in a smaller circle when it comes back up to the top so it's not covering the icons... but it only registers if my finger is directly over the shape of the wheel. once i start spinning, any circle i make should turn the wheel until i lift up my finger again.
other than those minor details this app is perfect. there are tons of conversion apps out there, but Tapbots has just released the best one available. please please please give us Tipbot next, the app store desperately needs it!
