Really funny By: gibsonlash - Jan 13, 2009 Version: 1.2 I have a blue heeler and their known for there really good hearing. To watch his ears act like a dish looking for a signal is funny. I do notice a better response from him at 15.5 kHz but at 20.0 I can see his eyes with a espression he hears somthing but he is not as responsive. Good App, and oh most of these sounds can't be heard from people older then 25. I'm 20 I'm college and I had it set to go man there was alot of mad classmates LOL.
Beagle goes nuts! By: Tone's Beard - Jan 12, 2009 Version: 1.2 As the instructions recommended, I had to train her. After about a week, my beagle goes nuts when she hears "her frequency". It took about a week. Every time you press it, give your dog a treat. You must never stray. Every time. If you are consistent, Pavlov takes over and good times are had by all. Thanks for this app! My only request: Saved presets (for different dogs). Thanks!
Jack Russel responds to this whistle. By: hock99 - 28-Nov-2008 Version: 1.1 I tend to leave my dog whistle at home in another coat pocket!!, so bought this to test on my Jack Russel. She runs like the wind when I let her off the lead, so she was a good distance away when I pressed the whistle. I used default settings. Wow - my dog just turned round and ran directly to me. Fantastic! I tried it on two different walks, and she responded on both. (I normally only use the (real) whistle if she is too far or not responsive to my voice.) I shall just leave it at default settings - and hope I am not hurting anyones ears. It is a very reassuring app - no need to worry about forgetting the whistle, because I never forget my iphone.
It was fun. By: LCNobel - Jan 6, 2009 Version: 1.1 Ok well I have two freinds that I know have this application and I liked the app so I bought it. I have a labrador and he noticed the sound but basically sat there like a lump. I love this app because you can test out your hearing and others hearing and I can hear all the way to 18.9 Hertz so it was fun showing off. Also you can annoy the h*** out of people because most of the time they cant tell where the noise is coming from and some may notice and say nothing as the make weird faces at people and look around the room.
Pimp By: Mjre22 - Jan 5, 2009 Version: 1.1 This is sooooo cool. The low frequency sounds realy weird and the highest frequency you can't even here but my dogs could. It's just like the Mosquito ringtone. It works on dogs and people. Don't listen to the reviewers who say that this is crud because this is amazing. It works with the itouch 2nd Generation if you have that like me and you are worried about that. It is definetly worth the very small amount you have to pay for it.
This is an awesome application By: Scott105 - 3-Jan-2009 Version: 1.1 I bought this app not expecting much, but thought it would be cool to try. My dog was in the room when I started playing with the app. My iPhone was set to the highest volume level. I might have scared her by starting off at such a high volume level because she tries to find a place to hide when I activate it. So, instead of training her to come at the sound, I decided to try to get her to stop barking at the TV. I enabled the bark detector feature and set it up to make a 17.3 kHz tone (1000 Hz Oscillation). I turned on the TV at a nice low volume level. She started barking, and wiithin 30 seconds, she figured out that her barking was making the whistle happen and she stopped barking at the TV. Now she just watches the TV and wines when she sees a dog on it. I don't even need to have the app enabled anymore and she doesn't bark at the TV. I might try to select a different tone or modulation to train her to come, but for now, we got far more than our moneys worth on this thing. I don't know why anyone would rate this poorly unless their i____ device doesn't have a speaker (or the speaker has a reduced high frequency range). One other cool thing I found is that my kids can here many of the tones (15 khz for example) that I can't hear. Maybe I can train them to clean their rooms with it :)
Works on 2nd ten iPod touch By: Quixopix - 23-Nov-2008 Version: 1.1 I could hear the full range of sounds on this app, of course when I went in to get my hearing checked and went into the soundproof room I could hear them talking. Guess I was off the charts in all his 30 years of practise. As a kid I used to have to cover my ears when entering the mall cause the security system emitted a very high squeeling pitch, much higher then this. I'm sure others will hear it all too.
Got this app when it was free but it didn't show in my list till today. Pretty cool app and I bet might be good for training a animal.
Works when in sleep?? By: coldsteele - Sep 2, 2009 Version: 1.5 How about a mode that you can set a frequency to beep every minute or (you could be able to choose the time limit) and it works while in sleep mode. So you could put it in your pocket, and freak out with everyone else. So in other words, it will beep at certain intervals of time, and make it work while in sleep mode. I think that would be a good selling point.
Congrats on this app, everybody takes my iPod and goes straight to it. I wish it worked for everyone so they could fully appreciate it.
It's fun but it doesn't train By: sliezer - Dec 29, 2008 Version: 1.1 It doesn't train ur dog and it doesn't make ur dog do tricks , I only got my german sheppherd to turn his head both ways to tune in on it for a few seconds. But I found something cooler out. If u turn the pure tone all on and threshold and turn the frecuency to around 17 older people like at about 45 or 50 can't hear it....but you can! I did it on my mom and grandma and it was hilarious...I got this for free though
This is awesome By: Particlem - Dec 24, 2008 Version: 1.1 Who cares about dogs, I use this on people! The first trial was to see what the range of hearing was for my wife and some of my friends. People that worked in loud environments had much lower range. My wife can hear the whole range of the app. Can you take it higher?!?!?
It's also fun to try in in crowds eventually people will start looking around to see where the tone is coming from. Kids usually hear it best.
Some suggestions: could you create an app with a really wide range? This would be a cool way to test out bass range on speakers. Also, using a wheel selector would be easier than the slider to be precise with the frequency setting.

My EARS!!!!! By: Kyle fer - Jan 28, 2009 Version: 1.2 Kyle fer
Dude! I did not believe it worked at all, but as broke as I am, I spent 99 cent and downloaded it, I turned the frequency up untill my ears could no longer hear it, then I wondered if it was even emitting a sound at all.... So I plugged it into my 5.1 surround sound system... Volume all the way up.. Hit the button and I still did not hear it, but!!! I felt my eardrums vibrate, literally I could feel my ears reacting to a soundwave, and most of all, when I put the frequency above 18, my surround sounds main CPU unit actually initiated it's backup processor and something else inside of it like cranked up, sounded like a loud computer for a sec!! So u know it's doing something!!! And now I feel like I'm a freaking idiot cause my left ear feels like it's eardrum has been scraped, and my right ears acheing bad, and I have a minor headache, OMG!!!! This really works, no freakin lie. This app, is the bomb. Oooommmmggg I can't wait to train my pittbull with it!!
THANKS for the iPod Touch (2nd Gen) version By: longtemps - Nov 23, 2008 Version: 1.1 See my original comments at bottom. I tested it at the full frequency range and one of my two dogs responded every time, the other most of the time, but more subtly. That is something to be aware of before criticizing this application. Even if a dog hears it, she may not respond. Like any of us, dogs learn to filter out sounds that are basically environmental noise. If your dog is subjected to high frequency noise on regular basis, she may not show any outward reaction to the new source. Loud music, electronics, urban settings are all sources of high frequency sound. We don't hear it all to realize how much noise there might be, but a healthy dog will. However, if a dog's brain has been conditioned to filter out certain types of noises - in the interest of doggie sanity - she might seem not to hear it. Even when a dog does react to this application's output, it may be as subtle as a slight and momentary movement of the ears. If you miss that, don't blame the app. developer. And if the reaction is that slight, it still gives you the opportunity to reinforce the response to allow the dog to know that something (good) will happen if they pay attention to the sound. Give it a chance, give your dog a chance. My high hopes have been rewarded. Old version: I understand because of the bark detecting function, aspects of the current app. would only work on an iPhone, but having just the dog whistle functionality on an iPod Touch (2nd gen) would be great. I give 5 stars for my high hopes.
Get that annoying dog to SHUT UP!!! By: LLORCA331 - Jan 18, 2009 Version: 1.2 Neighbor's dog barks all day long when they're not home. Nothing shuts it up until now! Had to have patience to find the right frequency and settings to give the dog a reason to go to the other side of the house where I can't here it anymore. Sound output can be pretty loud if your near the iPhone but this dog was on the 2nd floor and was uneffected so I docked my iPhone on my Bose Soundock and cranked it up until it hurt!! 2 days later, no more barking (at least on MY side of the house!) I don't know if it's legal but if the cops won't come out because of a neusance dog then I doubt they'll be interested in a 120db dog whistle!
You guys are my HEROS!! Keep up the good work and don't let people who don't know how to use the app get you down!!
Great!! :D By: Uzumaki ^_^ - Jan 13, 2009 Version: 1.2 You know, i love this app, but my female dog (bacon) thats her name, ran away and wont come in anymore, so it works. if my dog hadnt of run away then i would have given it the complete 5stars especially since everytime i use this app... it always seems to work. oh yeah the other day my mom and i bought a new car and so when we came home our dogs were barking like crazy they couldnt recognize us... : / lol well i used the dog whistle and they quickly got calm and backed away...but yeah idk i thought id share that with you... the app is excellent!
Other reviewers are simply LAZY By: MustAsh131 - Jan 13, 2009 Version: 1.2 This app works exactly as it is supposed to. The other reviewers are simply looking for a "cure all" for getting their dogs to do what they want. This app, in and of itself, will not change your dogs behavior. You have to find the precise frequency that your dog "hears" and then you can use it to "get their attention" in terms of training. It works great for those dogs that don't hear you yelling your lungs off when they are doing what you don't want them to do. I for one of my dogs to quit freaking out when she sees squirrels and the other quit barking when I hit the button now.
I recommend it for those of you who know what it takes to truly train (and love) your dogs. If you are seeking a app to "fix" your dog....don't buy this. But if you care to interact with your dog with this app....buy this!!!!
Absolutely works By: King7Two - Jan 4, 2009 Version: 1.1 I have a 1 yr old Pit Bull. When I use the whistle, she definitly hears it. Only works with 3G. Set the ring volume to its highest level. Freqency = 12.6kHz Pattern = 500 Hz She turns her head every time I hit it. Tried it outside and it still worked.!!!! She hears it to about 20' Could be louder, but thats the phones fault, not the application. Works FANTASTIC in the house.
Doesn't seem to work on iPhone By: KoRnyMunKy - Jul 28, 2009 Version: 1.4 It just makes a dial-tone noise on my 2nd gen iPhone. I downloaded it onto a 3G and new Touch, and it works great on those. It might just be an issue with my original's speaker.
On the quality of it: it's great but seems to be of more use as a way to annoy people than use on dogs. A few of the dogs I tried it on showed a response, though I doubt I'll succeed in training them with it. I love the ability to adjust frequency, though the bars are slightly fickle in registering an attempt to slide.
Worth more than I paid in my opinion, the slight issues didn't detract from the fun and possible practicality of it.
??/ my update By: bigbuddha8 - Apr 20, 2009 Version: 1.3 I have six dogs on my property ranging from stupid to very smart, non of them responded at all???????
Update
Ok so this app will work if you have a book on clicker training, and it works well!
But I think that this app should included such a book or at least a booklet.
Wow it's spring and I have found that at 20 kHz and set at noisy it will help deter mosquitoes!!!! Make it go up to 25 kHz and u guys will have your self a mosquitoe gard app as well!
NOT ONLY A DOG WHISTLE!! By: Tangalicious - Dec 28, 2008 Version: 1.1 i first saw this app. on my friend's ipod + he showed it to me + his dog came right away and my friend didn't even train his dog to respond to this whistle. so i bought this app. and i tried it out and my dog just looked my way [because i was peeking around the corner to see her reaction] and walked away, while my CAT came sprinting to me and then he just sat right in front of me waiting for me to do something!!
Does Exactly as a dog whistle should. By: wiredl0ve - Dec 3, 2008 Version: 1.1 I've read the other reviews and had to write my own. A metal dog whistle doesn't just work, you have to train a dog to respond to it -- This Application is the same. The other people's dogs don't respond to it because they haven't trained their dog to do so. It'd be like me saying, "beep" at you and expect some response. It's not magic, its a noise that dogs can hear and -most- humans can't. On that note, it does work. I can hear it up to about 16.4KHz and my son can hear it up to about 19.4KHz (and that is great fun in itself). I dropped a star because the sliders don't work well. I'd rather see a 'dial wheel' of choices from the 0.1 KHz up to the full 20KHz. It would also be nice to be able to favorite two or more frequencies and assign them to onscreen buttons (I have two dogs and can train each to a different frequency). As an addition I'd also love to see a plain old click so I can use the application to clicker train. Multiple, selectable clicks or chirps would be even better as I have multiple dogs -- and then I don't have to have a clicker with me.
