It's apple and their controversal decision to force all apps with the 'free memory' option to take them off, if they didn't they forcibly removed it. This app is still a 5 star app because you can still remotely monitor your computers along with the rest of your iPhone/ iPod's info. (if you really want to free up memory jailbreak your iPhone/ iPod and install SBSettings)P.S. I am not liable for anything that may happen while jailbreaking, and a note to Apple I am not promoting it, just throwing out the option to. And please justify the removal of the free memory option.

Was the most useful app I own...was... Do NOT upgrade if you own 1.0

Thanks Apple...thanks to your completely incomprehensible App Store policies you have taken what was easily the most useful app on my iPhone, and now made it only semi useful. Apple made the devs remove the free memory feature which really helped make the overall iPhone experience so much smoother. Free memory really helped my iPhone run faster and crash less, and apparently Apple has made the devs remove the best feature of the app for no apparent reason other than because they can.
I am really conflicted writing this review...on one hand this is easily most useful app I have on my iPhone, and now since I have upgraded to 1.1 I have lost the best feature of the app (if your currently using v1.0 DO NOT UPGRADE), the new features are nice but not worth losing the free memory option. On the other hand the best feature is gone and I would ask for my money back but that would have to come from the devs who have really put together a great and very useful app.
Apple...in all honesty...owes me my money back. I bought the app in good faith w/ the understanding that the feature I purchased the app for would always be there.
Devs thanks for a great product...Apple is boo/fail/pathetic on this one.

I've used iStat pro for my mac for a couple of years. Mostly it's just there to satisfy my curiosity about my MBP, but every once in a while it comes in handy when I need actually system performance information. That's all great for the MBP. But my company also has two Xserves and now iStat pro let's me monitor them "anytime, anyplace." Buy it now before these guys wise up and start charging what it's really worth. What? You get as many free server-side installs as you want to broadcast the stats to your $1.99 iPhone client? Unheard of!

Restore old version of iStat to Restore Free Memory Feature.

You can revert to the old version by deleting the app from your iPhone/Touch then deleting it from your Applications folder inside of iTunes. Go to ~/Music/Mobile Applications and then open Time Machine (if you're using it, and a Mac). Go back in time until you see iStat 1.0.ipa. Click Restore on iStat 1.0.ipa. Drag this file into iTunes then resync your iPhone or iPod Touch. Make sure not to update to the new version of iStat. Cheers!!!

Works on Apple TV Perfectly! (ATV Flash software with Nitro required)

Installed on my ATV 2.3 with ATVFlashes latest update, enable USB port for keyboard, mouse in Nitro and simply install iStat Server on ATV.
Works so well I wish I could post a screenshot of it running on my iPod Touch 16 GB gen 1.
Already I can finally "see" network drop-outs when they occur and drops in speed when syncing (on my Apple Extreme N with multiple Airport Express' N's, all Gigabit.) and copying files. I'd love to see a Pro Version which had more detailed network info like packets dropped, latency, etc.
Best app you'll buy on iTunes, to see what's really going on under the aluminum.

Nearly every person on here sounds like a spoiled, mentally challenged child. Yes, the free ram is a useful feature but it is not this app's only point of existance. There were plenty of apps that did literally nothing but free ram whereas this app has more (albeit, maybe less useful) features. The fact that apple decided to pull that feature from all apps is a good indication that they'll include a similar feature in an OS update. So unless you want to go through the hastle of keeping this app from updating just for that one thing, shut up and stop acting like children and demanding your money back.

Well done, great looking, runs perfect every time and solved a true need I had.. LOVE IT...
The ping and traceroute are very handy to have available and the temps and fan speed are comforting to monitor.
I also am using port forwarding with a VPN so sometimes I am driving down the road in my car, watching my server perform..
Items I would like to see are number of mail connections similar to the server widget with the serveradmin tools and maybe VM size similar to TOP.

After loving my iStat Menus on my Mac Pro, I figured I could clear up some menubar and Dashboard space by chucking $2 at the best development team ever.
I now have my iPod touch monitoring my system in the display stand on my desk here. I can start video encoding and keep the iPod with me to check on when it's finished- from another room.
If you liked iStat for your Mac, you'll love this one too. Definitely worth the $2.
SUGGESTION TO THE DEVELOPMENT TEAM:
Can we make use of the accelerometer so that when I tilt the device on it's side, the stats turn sideways? <- Just a suggestion. I'm sure lots of other users would like to see that feature too.

This has been a very useful app. Monitoring my Macs remotely has been great since I do a lot video encoding and I can easily check if my Mac is still burning on all cores anywhere in the house, while playing with my 6 month old. The remote stats can be used for so many different applications (of monitoring your Macs) which makes this app versitile. The free up memory opens up more memory than other apps I've used.

The app is very well designed. Everything is prompt and quickly loaded. It Opens and Closes like you would expect out of a App Store App, no latency. There is little to no lag on my network with the iStat Sever which is really impressive. Being able to see the Mac address and Battery life remaining justifies the expence of the App. Originally bought for the Free Memory but everything that gets removed is for a reason that is generally for the best. App is still worth getting even without Free Memory, Solid App.

As a first version, it's granted a bug or two. Any software is. Freeing memory only re-booted my iPod, but I'm sure that will be fixed in an update. As for the stats- awesome!! This is probably the coolest istat product yet- and it's only the beginning! I can't wait to see what future updates will bring! Surely some more details like top running processes, and even further maybe some remote fan control (hint hint) ? I have wanted to give back to iSlayer for their awesome istat stuff, and this is the perfect way!

I was able to setup my iPhone so to get stats over 3G or Wifi remotely. Great app very nice graphics and I cant wait to see what else is to come.
SETUP GUIDE!
1. Find out your Modem IP Address (not your computers or routers IP address the actuall modem.) The actual modem itself.
2. Ensure you have port (ex:5978 this can be any port you really want) open on the router port. (reboot modem/save changes so it can take effect after selecting you port) Really any port will do so don't worry about the number. To make things easier if your reading this use the one that is suggested to you.
3. Go to add you connection manually in iStat.app. Enter your MODEM IP not computers IP address and then enter the port you selected ex:5978 or which ever port you choose.
4. Test connection and you should be set.

This is an incredibly useful app for a number of reasons.
First, it gives you great detailed info about your device.
Second, by running the tiny unobtrusive server app on your home machines, you can remotely monitor their status. This is VERY useful for tracking completion of downloads, monitoring render or compression jobs, etc.
They had to take out the "Free Memory" feature at Apple's request. So what!?! The app is still a great utility and great value.
Highly recommended.

...before you throw a temper tantrum and demand a refund of your milk money. Apple Inc. demanded that Bjango remove the "free memory" feature. They removed the feature to avoid being delisted. In other words, they were forced to do it. Re-direct your anger at Apple, or do what I did and assume they had a good reason for doing so. In case you didn't know, you can follow the complicated and arduous procedure for freeing memory called...wait for it...REBOOTING YOUR PHONE. Godspeed, crybabies. EDIT: I paid $5 for the app too. It's called "iStat" and it still provides stats. Get a life.

You guys (reviewers) really are a bunch of ignorant morons aren't you? If you would stop to think for two seconds then you'd realize that the decision to remove the Free Memory feature was not bjango's to make…as stated in many reports including their own support page (like they said, if you'd learn to read). Therefore these one and two star ratings are bull. "iStat’s Free Memory function was removed at Apple’s request.This decision was completely out of our hands. Please note that all other apps with Free Memory appear to have been removed or updated without their Free Memory function too."This is a great app that I still use, including the Free Memory feature, quite often (because I'm not an idiot and stayed with 1.0). Although I will say, I wish bjango would've just removed the app and added a new one with the 1.1 features that way I don't have to constantly see iStat waiting for an update on my phone.

No "free memory" option = dont buy this app

I've had this app for quite a while. I've found it to be nice and informative, but the best thing about it was the "free memory' button. I realize the developers are saying that Apple is making them get rid of the "free memory" option and I believe them when they say it, but regardless that was the best reason to have it. It worked really well. Better than any other app I had tried. Now that its gone, i wouldnt recommend paying for this app. Now I have to figure out a way to avoid upgrading. Sorry to the folks at Bjango.

For those people that bought iStat for the Free Memory feature it turns out that Apple requested they remove the feature. Had they not removed it there would most likely be no updates to iStat. I guessing that's what the whiners would have preferred.
I didn't buy iStat for the Free Memory feature so it doesn't really matter to me and you can restart your iPhone to free up memory. Put the blame where it belongs, on Apple, not the developer.
As for the poeple asking for refunds, why don't you just keep using the one you paid for and not upgrade? How hard was that? Since Free Memory was the only reason you bought it, you don't care about the other features or updates.
iStat is an awesome system statistics app for the iPhone.

This app was mainly for remote Mac and Linux monitoring and does that perfectly. I'm even working on a Windows client at the moment because I just find it amazing. If you have 2+ computers (or just one) you need this app.One small thing I'd like to see is remote commands. Shut down, restart, sleep, wake on LAN, etc. That'd just be the icing on the cake.I did like the free memory function, so I just didn't upgrade. I probably will soon when they come out with a killer feature.Thank you Bjango for this excellent app.It's not the app developer's fault free memory was removed - if you could just read the support page you'd know it was Apple, which removed all other free memory apps. You're ruining the rating of a fantastic app when it's not even the app's fault.

The installation is great, and takes no time at all. You will need to download iStat Server and run that on your Mac, but that also takes no time and installs without any problems. If you want a great monitoring tool for both your iPhone and you Mac, this is it... the price point is fantastic! I would also highly suggest you look on-line at their monitoring tools for the Mac, they are "Free" and really well developed!

Was waiting for this one ever since film_girl reviewed it on TUAW. It does what it says it does very well, easy to use, seems stable too. To correct what someone else said though, the server daemon DOES background itself on the mac, the dock app doesn't need to be running for it to work. In fact the daemon seems to start on reboot as well, with no need to run the dock app at all unless configuration is needed.
For delivering exactly what the developers say, it gets five stars from me, though a Linux server daemon is very badly needed and would make this app exponentially more useful for me as well as others.
