Description:
* Rowmote Pro adds a wireless touchpad and keyboard - complete with landscape mode, two finger scrolling and right clicking, dragging, accented / extended character support, and more - to the clean and powerful remote control of Rowmote! Please read the full description and requirements below :) * You love the remote control which came with your Mac - so simple yet elegant, with easy control of Front Row, iTunes, Quicktime, DVD Player, Keynote, and more. Or, your Mac didn’t come with a remote control or doesn’t even have an infrared port. The Apple Remote or a 3rd party infrared receiver would cost a significant amount. Add ANOTHER hit to your wallet for a wireless keyboard and mouse! You carry your iPhone or iPod Touch wherever you go... so why should you carry a second device just to control your computer? Furthermore, why should you need line-of-sight to do so? Enter Rowmote Pro! Rowmote Pro is like your Mac or Apple TV’s remote control, but over the wireless network and even better! Trackpad and keyboard give you complete control over your computer, and you can control, launch, and quit apps, toggle the iTunes Visualizer, and more without ever having to squint at your screen. Rowmote is Mac-like from the ground up. FEATURES - Control your Mac or Apple TV completely over a wireless network. No line of sight necessary. - Works like the hardware Apple Remote Control in: • Front Row • Airfoil Video • Apple TV (after software installation. Keyboard currently works in some 3rd party apps) • Boxee • DVD Player • eyeTV 3.x • Hulu Desktop • iPhoto • iTunes • Keynote ‘08 and ‘09 • Last.fm • Microsoft Powerpoint ‘04 and ‘08 • mPlayer • Movist • OpenOffice Impress • Quicktime • PandoraBoy • PandoraJam • Plex • Safari • Skim • Songbird • Spotify • The Tube • VLC • xbmc - Click-and-hold works just like on the physical remote in applications; e.g. holding the right button fast-forwards, while a single click is ‘next’. Only Rowmote gets this right! PRO CONTROL: A single tap switches to the keyboard & trackpad mode - or turn on ‘Landscape-only Mode’ and switch by rotating the device. - A shake hides the keyboard for full screen mousing or shows it again. - Portrait & landscape mode. - Scroll with two fingers, right click, and drag (multitouch). - Tap anywhere or use the virtual button. - Type on your computer, including extended characters, modifier keys, and function keys - Multiple monitor support; no screen size limitation - Apple TV: Keyboard works in some third party applications, such as Boxee, but NOT in the primary Apple menu system. - SWITCH: Apps Remote allows launching & switching to controllable applications on the Mac, toggling iTunes visualizer, and more. - SLEEP & WAKE: Put your Mac to sleep by holding the Play button for 3 seconds. Sleeping machines are automatically woken as needed (wireless waking requires Mac OS X 10.6 and the machine to be connected to a power source). - Enables Front Row in Mac OS X 10.4. - Optional dark interface - Secure authentication - iPhone 3.0 support REQUIREMENTS • Mac OS X 10.4.0 or later • The free Rowmote Helper program, downloadable at rowmote.com, must be running on the Mac to be controlled. Apple TV requires additional installation; please see http://rowmote.com for instructions before purchasing. • The iPhone or iPod Touch must be on the same wireless network (a computer-to-computer network works, as well). If a firewall is enabled, Rowmote Helper must be allowed access (port 5842). Rowmote Pro is the only app you need to control your computer. Couple it with Apple’s free Remote app to turn your iPhone or iPod Touch into the ultimate controller for home stereo, mobile presentation, or casual video viewing. Artwork of Rowmote Pro is by Rik Schennink.

Reviews:
Does everthing claimed, very well!!!! By: X_cheshirecat_X - 24-May-2009 Version: 1.8 I was rather skeptical about this app. especially the £2.99 fee. Alot more than the no pro version (0.59). Many reviews for the cheaper version say that is is quite stable, it seems fine to me (os 2.2) I am truly amazed at this app. It really does what it claims, but it intuitive as well. It is easy to use (useful to know you have to shake when your in mouse mode to bring up or down the keyboard...) i dont even know if i will need more programs added maybe after awhile ;-) ) The only thing I would really like to see is an option to increase the sensitivity of the trackpad... perhaps in the next update? Essential app! 10/10, Worth every penny! A big thanks to the Dev
The Best Out There By: ShALLaX - 22-May-2009 Version: 1.8 Rowmote Pro does exactly what it says on the tin: It's a remote control for your Mac / Apple TV. The UI design is click, with audible feedback making using Rowmote without looking a doddle. Rowmote Pro plugs into a lot of mainstream media applications (Quicktime, Plex, Frontrow, EyeTV to name a few...) and even lets you launch the applications right from your device! No longer will you have to worry about whether the application you want to use is running before sitting down to watch some TV / movies! The Pro version brings some great additions, such as the ability to use your device as a wireless track-pad and keyboard (two finger mouse scrolling gestures work, too!). All in all, this is a superbly slick and functional product. Highly recommended!
Rowmote Pro is great By: maneeshpan - Nov 6, 2009 Version: 2.2 Thanks for the updated version of Rowmote and Rowmote Pro -- and for adding Mozilla Songbird compatibility. Rowmote Pro 2.2 also is nice. The new aluminum dark colored IR based Apple Remote released by Apple to replace the older white, plastic version they bundled earlier with MacBooks, Mac Minis, and even iMacs before this summer is interesting. Of course any iMac user who liked the magnetic capability to attach the Apple Remote to their iMac (with older models) would be disappointed by the new model not being magnetic but otherwise its likely a good revision, I have not tried using one though -- still use the plastic white Apple Remote(s) I have for my new MacBook Pro (got last month September 2009), with my new Apple TV I got in September, and my Mac Mini from September 2006. So I have count them 3 plastic and white Apple Remotes. Plus the Rowmote Pro app for my iPod Touch which is now even more convenient to use as it works well with a number of different apps (that won't work with either the old Apple Remotes or the new Apple Remotes that easily) so Rowmote Pro is great!
perfect! but i expect to see more features! By: leonkool - Oct 4, 2009 Version: 2.1.5 this app is perfect. to be honest, i didnt buy the Air Mouse one just because of the User Interface. I'm a designer and i really concern whether the UI is beautiful enough for an app on my ipod touch, or even the icon. So i chose this one and i really love this app due to its powerful function and lovely UI. I wish they could do more on the app, like add more multi-touch gesture control (3-finger and 4-finger) then it will be fairly perfect! Anyway, nice job!!
Love it! By: boston_lady - Sep 20, 2009 Version: 2.0 This app is really nice and useful. When I first got it I didn't use it much since the mouse movement was delayed and jerky. But, not long after I upgraded to Snow Leopard and happened to download the latest update of the app at around the same time...one of those changes fixed it because it now works without a problem. I've been using it all night and is so much more comfortable to use than my mouse. :) Just one request - if there's any way to support Pandora's desktop application (not Pandorajam) then that would be awesommeeee! I know it's an Adobe Air thing and am not sure if that's possible but it would be so cool if you could!!
Absolutely amazing! By: vanc99 - Sep 16, 2009 Version: 2.0 I have no complaints at all about this app. This is quality at its finest! I never write reviews, but I was just blown away by Rowmote. I use my iPhone for everything, and as much as I like "Remote", it just didn't do enough. I tried a few other apps, but nothing worked as flawlessly as Rowmote. In addition to controlling Front Row (my main attraction), it includes the features of RemotePad, without the lackluster experience. The remote mouse and keyboard work to perfection. This is a must buy app!!!
Say goodbye to IR By: Cheule - Sep 1, 2009 Version: 2.0 I broke my little white IR remote that came with my Macbook Pro (I washed it in the washing machine, oops!). They are 20 bucks at the store, so I figured for 5 bucks I'd give this a try. Wow am I impressed! Does everything the IR remote did and more. The virutal mouse is totally usable! I had problems getting my Mac to read the IR remote from the back of my classroom sometimes, but this is WiFi, so no worries!
Excellent By: Joethegamer - Aug 26, 2009 Version: 2.0 This app is by far the greatest mouse app around. It has a mouse feature, a keyboard feature, a remote feature, and probably several other functions that I have not yet discovered. By the way, the keyboard has command, alt, and control buttons, and the remote feature can work on several desktop applications, such as Powerpoint 2008 and Front Row. What really makes this app pack a punch is the low price. Buy now while the price is still low.
woa By: starno - Aug 24, 2009 Version: 2.0 i didn't even know i was looking for such an app until i read about it on 123macmini site. i have a macmini plugged on a projector. i always struggle to make the wireless mouse and keyboard work from the sofa, but as i get a lot of online content, i do need input devices (such as mouse and keyboard) more sophisticated than the apple remote. Here comes the rowmote pro: i have to say i was blown away to be able to move the mouse pointer using my finger on my iphone 3G, over the wifi—there was something very unique about that. Typing a URL or a google search using the iphone keyboard was a breath. Interactivity with EyeTV was fabulous. Love this app. Thank you for writting it. [a]
Contact the developer before writing this App off. Well written App. Future looks very promising. By: mx14 - Aug 18, 2009 Version: 2.0 Contact the developer before writing this App off. Developers have no way of responding to App Store reviews, no way to contact the person who left the review, and no way to issue a refund through the App Store. Developers would like to resolve issues rather than receive negative reviews. Most of them do this for the love of it and not for the money. Thats why most of them are free or nearly free. After emailing the developer he contacted me with in 15 min on a Sunday at 4:30 PM. The developer was very helpful and then explained that he has version 2.0 done and is waiting on Apple to approve it. Well written App. Very simple and yet still has all the features that a Mac user has learned to love. Waiting for update release to fix remaining bugs. Using an iphone, Macbook pro and an Airport Extreme and mouse doesn't work to its fullest ability yet. Thats the only thing that is preventing me from giving it a 5 star rating.

Great App By: Bizkit9891 - Jul 29, 2009 Version: 1.9 Does everything I expected it to do and more. The ability for using it on multiple computers and for so many apps makes worth while. One recommendation I have would be to enlarge the buttons so they fill more of the screen. The play pause button could really be twice its size. Like moving the forward and back buttons out to the edge and the volume up and down to the top and further down and make the play button a bit bigger circle or square. This would help not having to look down to make selections. Essentially you just press near the edge for the outer four buttons and anywhere in between would be the select button. Just a suggestion...
AMAZING!!! By: ajavila85 - Jul 27, 2009 Version: 1.9 I used the regular version of Rowmote before and liked it a lot! now that i've upgraded to the Pro version... well to say the least I love it THAT MUCH MORE! love the added mouse/keyboard function!!! I used Snatch before and though I liked it, I LOVE that i don't have to switch apps to use the remote and the mouse/keyboard... Does everything it says it does, and works flawlessly!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS AMAZING APP!!!
Awesome application By: AmeetSomaiya - Jul 18, 2009 Version: 1.9 It's great application. It has time lag for some time normally when your computer just started or installed first time, but afterawrds it works great. Your money is worth just by using mouse and keyboard. I was able use all the function which we use on normal keyboard like using apple key, function key, alt key, control key. When you use first time you need to learn how to use all the function after that you can utilize the Application most. It has some minor glitches, hope they will come up with some updates for that. I will recommend to buy this 100%, as it's mouse and keyboard application give your money back and other Applications are in bonus.
Amazing! By: GaganTheAppleGuy - Jul 6, 2009 Version: 1.9 This app is worth well more the $4.99 for all it can do! I am writing this review using the application! It never crashes and is super fast. I love the interface and the applications it supports! I already own Mobile Air Mouse Pro and wish I could have a refund and just have this! The app blends the ability to control applications, type using the built on keypad and use your mouse as well! Get this application now!
The Best Out There... By: Thomas Pedley - May 22, 2009 Version: 1.8 Rowmote Pro does exactly what it says on the tin. It's a remote control for your Mac / Apple TV. The pro version has the very nice addition of allowing you to use your device as a remote track-pad and keyboard (with keyboard modifiers). This thing has changed the way I watch TV - no more fumbling for remote controls, everything is in one place! The UI is slick and intuitive and offers audible feedback when buttons are pressed making it very easy to use without having to look at the device. Rowmote Pro integrates with many mainstream media programs (Quicktime, Plex, Front Row, EyeTV to name a few...) and it even allows you to launch these applications right from your device at the touch of a button (no more worrying about whether you remembered to start the application before sitting down to watch some TV!) Highly recommended!
great app, even better than Romote By: Bob(OH) - May 22, 2009 Version: 1.8 I've used Rowmote (non-Pro version) for a while now. I have a Mac Mini with two El Gato EyeTV250s and a flat screen tv, and use it to listen to music with iTunes, watch recorded TV with eyeTV, and watch other videos with Quicktime or VLC. This app is visually appealing and minimalistic with a simple set of buttons, but it can control a truly huge number of media applications, and has settings to enable/disable each so you only see the ones you're using. Now the Pro version adds a keyboard with modifier keys, making it even more flexible. The author is among the most responsive on the App Store, and I am constantly astounded how many suggestions are implemented in the very next release, while at the same time, keeping the price very low.

Very nice to use... By: PigeonCake - 28-Jun-2009 Version: 1.9 Infact the mouse pad feels very intuative, almost like a native device for controlling my iMac. I'd really recommend this app to anyone thinking about buying it.
A few suggestions:
1. This really needs a built in help/user guide.
2. The shake to reveal key pad is too sensitive, even when lowering the sensitivity. I'd prefer a three finger tap to activate the keyboard as I don't use it all that often.
3. I'd like to see some short cuts to sleep/power off my iMacs. I currently use a second app to do this, Off, which is also excellent but doesn't have a mouse pad.
Other than that...this one of my most dre
Looking Good.... By: iyengar - 21-May-2009 Version: 1.8 This is a good remote, with no bugs found so far. It is more intuitive than others I have used especially keyboard and mouse actions. But more importantly the mouse and keyboard functions work well. I have controlled Front Row, Keynote, Itunes and EyeTV (limited function as described here). Pleased so far. I use my IPOD touch to control the iMac and the Macmini media centre . The Rowmote helper installations also went well. Make sure you permit the request, during installation, to repair permissions.
amazing app.... but could be better By: deejdave - Oct 4, 2009 Version: 2.1.5 this is an amazing app totally worth $5 but i can nto find the sleep control to make my macbook got ot sleep i can only find the akwaken button also, if the creators for this app could possibly strike a deal with the apple who created remote... then you would advance completely. the controls on this paired with the ability to control and organize/use music on itunes would be an extremely aweosme addition...... then i could have a wireless mouse/keyboard.and complete control of my itunes library
