Description:
Save money while shopping this holiday season with ShopSavvy barcode scanner, the best comparison shopping tool ever available on the App Store! Just aim the camera at any barcode, hold the device still during the scan process, wait for the beep, and ShopSavvy will provide you with the list of both online and local prices for the item as well as the inventory. You can even add the item to wish lists that you can send to your friends or family. If you decide to pick up the item locally, you can immediately get directions on how to get there with Google maps. Take ShopSavvy with you when you shop and compare the prices with those from the more than 20,000 retailers who send their pricing data to ShopSavvy. Make sure you have lots of light and hold the phone still when you are scanning a barcode. Note that the scanner might not work well due to poor lighting conditions or because of the type of product you are scanning. Besides, don't bother scanning barcodes on curved or wrinkled surfaces. Works on all iPhones (2G, 3G and 3GS). Upcoming Updates: * Boundary to show users were to align the scanner *Progress of the scan displayed *New scanning library for faster results ***Media Reviews*** LifeHacker: “ShopSavvy harnesses all the cool things about the iPhone into a single app for smarter shopping.” NYTimes: “Users of the iPhone and Google Android phones can make sure they’re getting the best prices with ShopSavvy, a free app that can scan a barcode and pull up prices of that item at competing retail shops.” Gizmodo: “This is one of the best barcode apps for Android, and now it's available on the iPhone!”

Great app!! By: iPhone_fiend - Nov 18, 2009 Version: 1.0 A lot better compared to RedLaser. It's able to find products sold at Costco and gives you prices from other vendors. One complain I have is the scanner maybe not the apps fault but the camera itself but it's a missed or hit with the scanner. Once the UPC is read or entered manually it has no problem finding the product not like redlaser, not only it can't scan at all it can't even find product with UPC manually entered. And shopsavvy is free. 5 stars!!!
Really GREAT!! By: $D.Money$ - Nov 26, 2009 Version: 1.0 This app has some real potential to be better than red laser..which costs 1.99 right now where as this one is free. More than likely for a reason. Savvy has better features such as it gives you the location of stores near u with the product and a list ordered by distance of where the stores are at and how far from you they r. It gives you the phone number to the place website etc. and sets up directions for u through maps. Things that others complained about with redlaser which lacks this. It also searches the web..so it gives you the option..store or online. The only problem IM sure is that it doesn't scan every single item, more than likely only name brand/well known items. FYI just like redlaser this app lets you search manually for products it even let's you search manually by barcode. They say they r g2 update hopefully it'll make it up there with redlaser. I think these too companies should join forces to create one big super app SAVVYLASER! Savvy being first cuz it has the better features. They both have what each other r missing.
BEST APP SCANNER EVER By: GENIUS - Nov 25, 2009 Version: 1.0 The best scanner for iPhone, it works well and quickly. The people that are giving bad reviews are idiots and don't know what there talking about. This app works great and best of All it's free!!!!!!! So how can you go wrong. The only thing that can make this app even better is in there new update you need a stabalizer for when scanning the barcode cause it's hard to keep a hand steady this app will be the greatest if this is added. Thanks for such a great app and for making it free!!!!!!!
Hey it works!!! By: iplayheavy - Nov 29, 2009 Version: 1.0 Downloaded while in Toys R Us, pressed the scan icon in the lower left corner of the screen, held my 3GS about 2-3 inches away (started at 3 inches and slowly moved the phone closer to the bar code and... BAM!!! SCANNED WITH NO PROBLEM!!! so my wife has a 3g and she loads the app on her phone... she was saying it did was not working for her... I showed her my technique and BAM!!! no more complaints from her. NO I'M NOT USING THE AUTO FOCUS FEATURE ON My 3GS. she loves it!!! just take your time and it will work... if you ever went through a self check out line at a store and all your items scanned on the first or second try then wooptie dooo for you... but if your like most folks who know how bar code scanners can act up from time to time even with $10,000 equipment (how much did this cost u), then STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT AN APPLICATION THAT WORKS AND IS FREE FREE FREE TO USE... ARE U KIDDING ME... how can you complain about something that's free? AMAZING HOW U DO THAT... HOW BOUT A THANK YOU!!!anyway, to the developers of this app, thank you, because you saved me over $500.00 tonight buying toys... thank you for working out a deal with the retail stores to publish there prices in a medium like this and making them pay you, so I can have this app for free and save $$$

Great but needs more tweaks By: Hizzzzzle2k - Nov 19, 2009 Version: 1.0 Love this app on my G1, like it's been said before the poor performance at scanning barcodes comes from the camera! My only concern is at the scanning mode can you at least let us as the users know what is going on as the phone tries to scan? Please!? On the G1 the screen would auto focus, so for me I know it's doing something, and it kind of takes the edge out on waiting for the scan. I would suggest maybe a little message on how much percent the scanning mode is done, and or a read out of how bright it is, pretty much an over all picture of what the scanner is doing. I went to Fry's and tried it for the first time and I damn near deleted the app because it took so long to scan a barcode. I pointed and waited, and waited, I wasn't quite sure what the program was doing, and as soon as I pressed the home button "beep!", WTF really? I had to hold the phone over the product again for about 30 seconds! So please just something that let's us know it's doing something , even an audio link to zombo.com or something, LoL!
Remarkable for a free app! By: DrewB_1 - Nov 18, 2009 Version: 1.0 Used successfully on an iPhone 3Gs (16gig). Nailed 9 out of 10 items right out of the chute (including several obscure CDs, a 10-year-old software manual, and an obsolete (by 5 years) Windows program box. Had no luck reading the barcode silkscreened onto an empty Jolt cola bottle, and have not tried it yet on any canned goods, so don't know yet if it's a poor barcode specimen, a cylindrical distortion issue or a product ID issue.Regardless, I did feel I should report my initial scan successes. So far, very good.

Scan works well, price listings ok prob will get better with time By: Daveng9999 - Nov 25, 2009 Version: 1.0 I just downloaded this and started scanning stuff in front of me and it was able to recognize 8 of 9 things that I scanned. The listings that followed would be useful in terms of gauging a relative price but for actual shopping the local locations listed were way too far away. Maybe this will improve in time when more local info is available though still useful for giving you an idea of how much something should cost.

Dudeeeeeeeeee12345 By: Paintballer5 - Nov 19, 2009 Version: 1.0 I'd pay for it. It's great surprised it's free
Great app By: Studio57 - Nov 19, 2009 Version: 1.0 What a great app for Xmas shopping. It works, it's accurate, and will save you tons of money this holiday season and beyond. I saved $120 on the first day I used it. Far better than Googling a product for price info. This is a no brainer and it's free.
Pretty Amazing! By: bwk249 - Nov 19, 2009 Version: 1.0 Now I haven't tried Redlaser, but this one is free and I have yet to have it not work. Not sure what other people are saying, but I'm using an iPhone 3g with the 2mp camera and it works perfect. Definitely try this app!
