Description:
A video about iEphemeris Pro is available te the following address: http://www.marcopiccone.it/iphone/iEphemeris_Video.html iEphemeris Pro is an astronomy program for iPhone or iPod Touch. The main difference with the Lite version is the ability to set your current location; a lot of astronomical calculations depends on your current position, and iEphemeris Pro allow you setting your coordinates. The target for the professional version is the astronomer who want to have in your pocket that main astronomical information. Even photographers could find iEphemeris Pro useful for their activity; since version 1.3 the application provides information about the time and azimuth for Moon Rise & Set. There are three pages; - the main one gives you information such as: Julian Date, Sidereal Time, Delta-T, Sunrise, Transit and Sunset; - the second page gives you all information you need on the Moon; actual phase, right ascension and declination, lunation, next phases, horizontal coordinates, moonrise, moonset (since version 1.3), and more; - the last page gives you the main information on the Sun; right ascension and declination, day length, Sun maximum altitude, Equation of Time, Nutation, and more. The application can be customized by choosing: - if you wish to use iPhone GPS (iPod does not support this feature); - the hemisphere where you are living; - between Metric and Anglo-American unit mesure system; - if you want information in real time, or if you wish to set your own time and date; - to choose your location among the 8.000 cities stored in the built-in database, or to add your own by setting latitude, longitude, elevation and time offset; - to choose any of all supported languages without change your device settings; changes concern not only the application language, but even the regional settings used by the program (such as dates). A user guide is available at the following address: http://www.marcopiccone.it/iphone/iEphemeris_Guide.html Check this page if you need to understand how to set iEphemeris. The application is localized in all main languages; Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Turkish. If you find a bug, if you wish iEphemeris translated in your own language, just send me an e-mail to the following address: iphonedev@marcopiccone.it As all users know, support is immediate and granted.

Reviews:
Fantastic Program By: Tomas P - Mar 8, 2009 Version: 1.5 Not sure what all the fuss and complaints are all about. Program is easy to understand and use.
Folks with iPhone 3G should have NO complaints with setting it up as we have GPS. Just choose GPS ON and no worries where you're at. It will set up location values based on GPS. how much simpler can it be?
I agree with a suggestion of possibly including the planets if possible in the future. Would be awesome for all including Astronomers.

Good App, But... By: SchecterFennec - Dec 22, 2008 Version: 1.1 This is a cool and informative little piece of software. I like the realtime stats and polished interface. There are just a few things that I'd like to see resolved.
-Sunrise/sunset times are in UTC, even if I set to local time in the preferences.
-Speaking of preferences, you need to have a 'back' button for each preference. If I go into, say, City, but I don't want to change anything, I have to click the text box, bring up the keyboard, and hit return to get back. Just a minor thing, but it takes away from the polished feel.
-Description says location services are a feature, but version 1.2 isn't even out yet.
-When I type a city, like Rochester, how do I know if I have the correct Rochester? There should really be a list of search results that come up, with countries and states attached. Also, it'd be nice to have elevation data be set automatically when you pick a city. I have no idea how many feet above sea level I am at a given time. That is what the measurement is in, right? There are no units attached to that preference.
Yeah, looks like a few flaws, but there's really nothing that's that big a deal. Well worth my two bucks.
Nicely Done! By: aud_one - 6-Jan-2009 Version: 1.4 For anyone interested in facts and information on the sun and moon and their various idiosyncrasies, this program is a must. It's well laid out in three information packed screens that provide a wealth of data. If I could mention only one omission that would be the various sunsets and rises; astronomical. Nautical and civil, this is great information for photographers (the Golden Hour!). Well worth the price.

Great By: Spac3 y3teez - Feb 26, 2009 Version: 1.4 What I think would be cool or better as an updat is gradually adding planets, then the moons of planets. Maybe pictures of the planets you add too. A
Also eclipse times and in what areas for the moon and sun.
Worth it By: 10U15!! - 04-Aug-2009 Version: 1.5 This is well good. It states loads of information and it doesn't crash.
Out of this World... By: Kingstonflyer - 7-Feb-2009 Version: 1.3 First class application ! Does exactly what it claims - in three beautifully presented screens. The language options are a real bonus and the ability to apply local GPS locations (iPhone 3G only) is really welcome. Top marks for execution, information, design and value for money...
Way better than the lite version. By: colinsk - Mar 9, 2009 Version: 1.5 The main thing I would add is some technical documentation describing what all of the displays mean. I knew all but two. However a description of the equation of time and the other features would increase your audience base.
Thanks By: Mosquito67 - Feb 23, 2009 Version: 1.3 Upgraded from lite version. Very useful for night flights. Can you please add Moon transit time? Thanks again!
Great, worth the upgrade By: SurferNerd - Jan 15, 2009 Version: 1.2 I use the sunrise sunset times often for hunting and adjusting hiking schedules. It's great to know the moon phases as well for night outings.
Good but By: Juabe - Jan 13, 2009 Version: 1.2 It's a very informative app but the time for sun rise and sun set is backwards. It's like they put the rite times with the wrong headings.

Very comprehensive By: Deborah Pickett - 09-Aug-2009 Version: 1.5 This app provides a vast array of ephemeris data for the sun and moon. Much of it is only of interest to astronomers.
I have two wishlist items: one, to be able to see the date/time of the previous moon phase as well as the next four (it is otherwise difficult to get this information), and two, to have the date/time of nearby solstices and equinoxes.
Extraordinary By: ToeCrusher - 08-Feb-2009 Version: 1.3 The only info it doesn't give is the local weather. Everything solar and luna an astronomer could want and more. The GPS for iPhone is one such feature so that you don't have to manually set your co-ordinates for your observing location.
The only solar feature I can think of that is missing is sidereal angle and time.
Worth every cent and then some.
Very Nice App! By: JD_1 - 8-May-2009 Version: 1.5 Well done and worth the price. Really like that I can check sidereal time with this app! Would like to see the ability to be able to quickly change the dates so as to get a peek into the data pertinent for any day that I wish to check out. Helps in planning for astronomical observation sessions.

Meh. By: straphanger - Mar 18, 2009 Version: 1.5 This is a decent app, though more features would be nice. For one thing, moon phases should be clearer... i would be a lot better if it included more graphics than just full, new, 25%, 50%, and 75%. Then you could easily see when it will be a crescent, and so forth. It also could use a table of eclipses or something like that. The paid version really shouldn't be this "lite."
Not bad. Needs work By: DonSlice - Jan 21, 2009 Version: 1.3 If program can use gps why can't it pull date and time from the iPod?
Good, needs tweaks By: XanatosUSA - Jan 10, 2009 Version: 1.2 I upgraded from lite, but there are a few things needed- many of which were addresses by the previous review. In addition I'd like to see moonrise/set times, and replicate sunrise/set graphics on sun data page. App also will not let you return to main settings screen after entering data- only have the "done" button, which returns you to the app, but hitting the settings button again puts you back into the same data screen you just edited with again no way to get to other settings screens without quitting the app and restarting. Lastly, in regards to the W vs. O in setting lat & long., (mentioned in earlier review) in the USA we use W, so that's fine here. Overall good app, but I believe you could vastly improve it with some tuning and updating.
