Reviews:
Great app, could use a few mods to be perfect By: Kunci - Jan 6, 2009 Version: 1.2 Very handy little app with a couple of little annoyances: 1) Entirely dependent on network connectivity; it would be great if static info was cached, such as trail maps, location map, etc; weather in "cached" mode could be entirely bypassed -- I ended up trying to use it on the mountain just for the trail map (could not care less for weather: I was right there to see it first hand), but with no coverage the app was dead. 2) No info on numbers of open lifts and runs. 3) No shortcuts to anything related to the station, such as phone numbers, lift ticket prices, etc; for these the user has to entirely rely on the Safari link to the actual website, but some of this could be maintained (and cached) within the app (much like the weather that is visible in a summary format right away and available in more detail through a link to NOAA). 4) A one glance, list summary view would be great. For each station it could list info configurable by the user (today's weather, and/or new snow, and/or snow base, etc).
Keeping it real By: T.J. Burke - Dec 16, 2008 Version: 1.0 This app has exactly what you need: new snow, current conditions, and quick links to the NOAA point forecast where you can geek-out on all the weather details. Runs open, lifts, acres, ect are fine for vacationers or statisticians and could be added in a future update, but for the locals, you get all the quick info in an easy to use format and links to any other info you could want. Clean, smooth design and functionality (cheers to the designer, this is the best looking snow report out). This is my go-to app for winter mornings.
Killer App! By: Shred Betty - Nov 20, 2009 Version: 2.1 Hey Growler1969 is it a coincidence that you only review Zumobi apps and then give competing apps bad reviews? Get a life. This is hands down the best snow report on the itunes store. I like REI but it's lame that they have their developers out there sabotaging other people's apps, especially since they actually sell North Face at REI. You don't need anything else this winter. Amazing innovation and design. Good job TNF.
The best snow app in the app store! By: Kingswere - Nov 19, 2009 Version: 2.1 I don't understand how people are giving this app bad reviews. Probably people with competing apps trying sabotage. Crazy innovation by integrating Twitter, love the global top10 feature, weather underground is a good call, much more in depth resort reporting than the original version, avalanche feature shows they know what is up, and the SMS push function is very smart. And it's free! All snow totals also are quite accurate, even for japan an EU resorts. North Face continues to prove why they are the leader.
Gorgeous Application Interface, Which is Easy to Use and Gives You Multiple Resorts Info in Seconds By: HockeyStuff - Dec 6, 2008 Version: 1.0 First off this application is amazing, not only because it is free and not $2-6 but because it is nicely designed and easy to use! This application is by far the best snow reports free application and could be the best one of paid ones as well. Below I wrote the many excellent things about this application along with three suggestions. Things I Like About This Application --The interface is beautiful with a nice clean layout which is very easy to use and helpful! --Having the ability to just see the current resort's conditions and base snow is awesome, along with a beautifully pictured 4-day weather forecast! --Having nicely located buttons on the bottom to view trail maps, location of the resort, resort website, and NOAA which is a national weather forecaster; is great and gives us all the information we could want about our winter resort! Trail maps and website link are a must have and a great feature to see in this free application. --The easy setup to make what is on your favorite resort list and the way the developer’s set it up so you just slide your finger to view the your next favorite resort instead of clicking on a bunch of buttons. -Having the option to change your background picture and degree measurement (°F/°C) is a very nice touch and shows that they really have worked on this product to add the ability for personal customizations to it. Things I Don't Like About This Application (Suggestions) --Every time I open the application the Arizona Snowbowl ski resort always says “Not Available” under Today’s Weather Prediction, why is this? The other ski resorts in Arizona work high percent of the time but Snowbowl has never worked. -- Your favorite resorts should have the maps saved to the application instead of having to download it each time, this way when on the slopes you don’t have to worry about signal and not being able to download it. --When viewing maps you should have the ability to turn your phone on its side and see the maps in widescreen view, this could be achieved easily by using the accelerometer to detect this and would allow more viewing room.
where is Hintertux? By: ddoppler - Oct 19, 2009 Version: 2.0 Like it a lot. One suggestion I have: in the global top 10 tab, it would be great to have the details page for that resort pop up when you touch it without having to add the resort to your "my reorts" page. I am often curious about where it's snowing and would like more details, however, living in Washington state, I don't need to have Hintertux in my list of resorts... Just a thought. Thanks for an otherwise solid app!
Superb...Whos Rides Europe These Days!? By: dazzabigboy - 13-Jan-2009 Version: 1.1 Excellent app accurate and great interface....like the cool background pics! The European thing is an issue if you only ride there but to be fair you need to take the plunge and ride a real resort like Whistler, Heavenly or Lake Louise....once you have experienced Canada and the US you will not even consider Europe again. Europe = The following applies... The drive up to the resort is poor The price of the hotel is a rip off The standard of the accommodation is diabolical (and we stay 4-5 star!) The people (in France) are rude, arrogant and dismissive! The prices are astronomical (£9 for cold Spaghetti Bolognaise & £5 for a beer!!!!....er NO!) The lift passes are theft!
I will leave you with one thought: When is the last time a Frenchman Hi 5'ed you on a Blue Bird Powder day and handed you a free cup of hot chocolate....NEVER? Thats the difference with Canada and France.
Good App By: Darren Tuffet - 12-Dec-2008 Version: 1.0 I think this is great. Definately more US focussed in terms of resort lists but i fell out of love with Eurpean skiing a long time ago when i went to the US/Canada for the first time and realised how over crowded, over priced and over rated most parts of Europe are! Got my resorts plugged in ready for a Banff trip at the end of January and monitoring daily, c'mon!!! It has never crashed on me and has pretty pictures as well!
Looking for the next best thing... By: Uncle Jon - Jun 19, 2009 Version: 1.3 I used this app during the '08 & '09 snow season. Most of the time the info displayed was correct. There were times when info to various ski places were not updated all day. Some of the trail maps were too small even after making them larger. It's a good free app with lots of room for future updates. After I installed the 3.0 iPhone update this app kept crashing after opening it. This is the only trouble I've had. Worth downloading since it's free. As with all North Face products they keep getting better with time.
Great all around snow app By: ShutdaPhuckUp - Mar 23, 2009 Version: 1.2 Liked this app much better than the REI app. This one is fully customizable and allows you to pick and track your favorite resorts. The additional features like trail maps and resort websites are nice too. Only real complaint is that whenever you try to access these additional features, it slows down the app. Overall, really nice app, too bad the season is over so I can't really test out its accuracy.

Good free snow reports By: erayl - Dec 3, 2008 Version: 1.0 Every snow report so far has its strengths and weaknesses, this one included. It is laid out quit well, providing basic weather conditions for each resort. The graphics are great and I like the ability to change the background wallpaper. The trail map is not always useful, for example the Whistler/Blackcomb map cannot be zoomed enough to make it useful. The resort site and NOAA buttons are links to the corresponding sites in Safari, taking you out of the application. The search function could not find as many resorts as competing applications. It does not show the number of trails or lifts open, nor does it show the number of acres. All in all, it is a great free snow reporting tool.
Works great By: HHS DES - 5-Jan-2009 Version: 1.1 This works fine and it let's u have as many mountains u want! With the updates u can get the trail maps loaded even faster!! This is a must have for any snowboarder or skiier!!
Latest update works for me By: Tomasimo - Sep 16, 2009 Version: 1.9 Was crashing for me before latest update. Now works well. Looking forward to full blown use come boarding season.
Finally By: BiGMAC780 - 8-Dec-2008 Version: 1.0 An free, awesome and reliable snow report app.
Snow report By: M-42 - 3-Dec-2008 Version: 1.0 Awesome app! Shows weather forecast, amount of snow in the past 24 hours, the average base depth, and best of all, it's free and has no limitations! Add as many resorts from all over the place as you want. One downside is that it doesn't show how many runs are open (eg. 34/66) but other than that, great app!
Wow! By: Kingswere - Aug 3, 2009 Version: 1.3 Best snow app around and it's free!
Best ski report app By: JustACarGuy - Jul 8, 2009 Version: 1.2 This one beats the other ski report apps- the design and style are awesome. I already found and added all my favorite resorts... A cool feature is the link to the NOAA site for detailed weather reports. The only feature I'd like to see added is webcam images - but you can usually find those on resort web sites. Now all we need is some SNOW!
coocoo By: slave to audio - May 12, 2009 Version: 1.2 it looks cool on the home page get it
THE NORTH FACE!! By: Dannen - Mar 8, 2009 Version: 1.2 Wut mo can u ask??
Great App By: Killer Diller - Feb 24, 2009 Version: 1.2 This has great info, shows you where the ski resort is, how to find it and what the trails look like. It also gets you to the resorts website! There are way too many critical people out there and this deserves better ratings.
