Description:
WeatherAlert is a simple weather notification application that will display alerts for your area such as Thunderstorms, Tornadoes, Floods, etc. WeatherAlert has been updated to provided more accurate alert information. We are aggregating information from multiple sources and displaying the most recent and accurate information available. * If you do NOT see an alert you have selected to check for and you get it in other weather apps, first step is to check the details of the alert and make sure it has not expired. If it is not expired and you still don't see it, check the map. If it shows all of the US and not your state, your zip code isn't in our database. If this happens, please contact us ASAP at weatheralert@figmentdevelopment.com so we can resolve it. ** 3.0 USERS: In addition to saying "allow" to the prompt from Apple about push notifications, you must also set the push slider to "yes" on the location tab. Otherwise your settings will not get stored on the server. If you still have issues, please email support, or try uninstalling and reinstalling the application. * If you do not get alerts or push isn't working for you, please contact the help email before leaving a negative review. In a few cases the user had incorrect information entered in the app. We'll do everything we can to make the app work for you. We are open to other suggestions. Thanks for your support. =========== NOTE TO USERS OUTSIDE THE US: The app is only for sale in the US App Store for a reason...the app only works in the US. Please do not leave negative reviews because you bought an app not sold in your country. The app is a US only app, therefore it only works in the US. SETTINGS NOTE: If you experience issues with activating push, please uninstall the app and reinstall it. This issue will be corrected shortly. NOTE to 2.x OS users: due to conflicting pushes, the 2.x pseudo-push service HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. If you'd like to get push notifications, please update to OS 3.0. ABOUT THE REVIEW FROM US: This was posted in v0.5, for some reason iTunes keeps changing the date and version to the most recent. This review was left after a flurry of 1-star reviews by people claiming the app was a virus and only gave error messages. The errors were due to network problems, not the app. We apologize for that review constantly appearing at the top of the review list. If anyone has any actual issues or concerns with the app, please contact us, we try to be as helpful as possible in figuring out why you aren't getting alerts or pushes. We've helped a number of people solve their problems.

Good app! It works! By: avillanx41564 - Aug 21, 2009 Version: 1.1 Put app to the test today, 8/21/09. Other reviews in the past, do not listen to them. Firstly, entered all information that was supposed to be entered for the app. Make sure that your "push" settings are set for 15 min. increments and not to manual or anything above 15 min. This will ensure that you will receive the alert notification. Alerts that are not imminent threats, will play the iPhone alert that you receive for mail. More serious threats will sound the "Weather Alert" tone. Which by the way scared the !@#$%^& out of me which I was not expecting. (The alert was for a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and it did what it was supposed to do). Wondering what will happen when it is a Tornado Warning! I have two suggestions for the developer. First - Make use of the accelerometer so that the screen will transition to "landscape." This would help with reading the alert and for seeing the map and reading the alerts on the map page. Those of us with not so good vision would appreciate this feature. Second - A "double tap" feature would be good to zoom in on the alert area.

To the people complaining about ERROR 5 By: Figment, Inc. - Aug 12, 2009 Version: 1.1 Hello, I am the developer of this application. If you are experiencing the "Error Code 5" message all you need to do is email the support address and I will respond very promptly. This app isn't a virus and doesn't crash the phone. Less than 1% of the people who have purchased the application have sent me emails with issues. When I find solutions, I fix the app, the feed, or post suggestions on the website or in the app description. I have tried to help every person that has emailed me about this problem and in most cases I get emails back saying it works. In the other cases, I get no response at all, so I assume it was fixed or they don't care. Please ask for help before calling the application a virus.
Very Satisfied By: Crusader63 - Aug 1, 2009 Version: 1.1 I downloaded this app late last night. I was experiencing some of the same issues that a few were running into also, and I began to wonder if I had made the right purchase. Considering it was only a .99 cent purchase, it's not like it was going to be a world crisis if the app actually never got fixed. However, there are those who will settle on that thought process, and there are those who base everything on principle. I am one who bases much on principle and not so much on cost first. I played with this app for an hour or so last night trying to get it working and I wound up shutting it down and resolving to contact David the next morning via email and see just what kind of support this app was going to have. One would think because it only cost .99 cents there would be little to no support available. On the contrary, David responded to my email promptly this morning and we've been in communique for the last hour or so. I am writting this praise report immediately following my support call to David. David walked me through this app from beginning to end in detail and helped me understand exactly how this app retrieves its information and how it pushes it to the users iPhone. He explained his sources he gets the alerts from and how the servers communicate with these sources to retrieve the information. He even sent me a dummy push to test if my iPhone would actually retrieve a push... it did. I did go ahead and reinstall the app this morning just so I can say that I did do this. The golden rule with computers is, when in doubt, reboot or reinstall. Nevertheless, David's response and service was indicitive of driving up your Mercedes to the dealership and having the red carpet rolled out for you. It was like being met with coffee and doughnuts with a nice glass of wine on the way out. This app is being refined, just as any other app would be, and I believe that this app will become a very good one. It really already is. All app architects should be this accessable and gracious with their market. This kind of service is what will draw me back over and over again to David's programs. Good job!
AWESOME Application By: 98BMW_r1100_GS - Jul 29, 2009 Version: 1.1 This review is a LONG TIME in coming and to the developer I apologize. I downloaded this app while on vacation in South Carolina.... It did NOT work well first go around. I contacted the developer via email and within a HALF HOUR..I had email support beginning. We emailed back and forth and got it working perfectly...he even sent me test push alerts to ensure it worked once my fixes were done. I have been back in NJ for a few weeks and the alerts have been coming through fine. This is the best money I have EVER SPENT on an APP and the developer should be comended for his support of the prodcut. I cannot wait to see further updates to the app. I would add the choice to allow MULTIPLE alert locations to be posted at once. Good stuff and a great product....
Great now that push notifications are available. By: App Sponge - Jul 7, 2009 Version: 1.1 I live in an area affected by several kinds of severe weather, and the idea that I could be alerted to various advisories and warnings is very appealing. I have had this application for quite awhile, but I haven't used it before because of the lack of push notification for new weather alerts. When I originally reviewed it, I observed that it would really only become useful to me when push arrived. It has and now this is a truly useful application for anyone who lives where severe weather is a regular feature of life. It lets you set which kinds of alerts you want to monitor, and it works as advertised. It's not flashy - it sits on your device and pops up a notice whenever a new alert comes along, which is just what it is supposed to do. It's great and well worth a buck if you live where it is important to keep up with these things. In its latest incarnation, it has a permanent place on my iPhone. Highly recommended.
Great App! But if you have problems, please contact the developer first... By: adster2000 - Jul 4, 2009 Version: 1.1 I bought this app a few days ago and had some questions/problems. Instead of leaving a bad review, I contacted the developer. Within hours, my questions and problems were resolved and the app works like it should. People, if you're having problem with the app, let the developer try and help you instead of immediately giving it a negative review. If something is not working, let him know so he can look into it and fix it, ultimately making it a better working app for everyone. iTunes won't allow posted links in reviews but if you Google the developer (Hint: Figment Development) you can find the site for this app and his contact info.
Great App By: Alpha Oscar - Sep 17, 2009 Version: 1.2 I really like this app and it does what I need it to do. I really appreciate the DEFCON alert sound as I want to be woken up out of a dead sleep in the middle of the night when a tornado is threatening. The current alert sound leaves no doubt in my mind that my phone is alerting me to an event of relative importance, as compared to the 20 other sound alerts I have on my phone. I'm sill somewhat concerned about the timeliness of the alerts, therefore the 4 star rating.
Alot better...still some bugs...Does not work as advertised By: FRT9 - Aug 10, 2009 Version: 1.1 As promised i have updated my review... The push now works and no issues with this ap however, i am only giving 4 stars until the Dev team adds a feature to be able to select more than one area. Also this ap would completly excell any weather ap if u could use it as a trip planner and get alerts for your selected route/locations. Good ap I hope to see additions and improvements in the next release... BTW dev team when is it expected and what are additiions if any? Thanks.
Old review----Several Warnings when I open but no push notification... The push is the only reason why I bought this. I am on 3GS and have it loaded two phones with no push notifications on either. Yes the ap is enabled as well as the iPhone settings. All other push notifications from other aps are working. If Figment gets this fixed I will consider updating my rating. I say consider due to time having to wait for an update. If you buy a product you expect it to work/// Lets get this corrected Figment...
Great App! One minor suggestion By: arvetus - Jul 29, 2009 Version: 1.1 LOVE the push alerts for severe weather. One thing you could do to improve is to be able to receive push alerts for multiple locations ... i.e. while traveling, or for areas that you want to keep track of - maybe you would have family in another area and want to monitor alerts for that area. Also - since this is a weather alert app, maybe change the push tone to the EAS alert - only one blurb though...not the 3 long blurbs on the weather radio... :)

Perfect app By: Weatherguy1 - Sep 5, 2009 Version: 1.2 Why is evryone complaining? I put it in as one of my 25 weather apps works bug free. It is a great weather app.
Great By: mackmgg - Jun 18, 2009 Version: 1.0 Just downloaded, and it was right now. One of the first apps with push!
Works for me! By: izenmike - Aug 25, 2009 Version: 1.1 Does what it says it does. It's a shame doesn't actually show weather, then I can get rid of a bunch the mediocre weather apps I have.
Great app! By: Aerostar123 - Mar 25, 2009 Version: 0.9.1 This is so simple and helpful. I highly reccommend it.
Worked Excellent on the Course By: Michael_Zucker - Aug 21, 2009 Version: 1.1 I was playing mini golf today and all of a sudden I get an alert about the thunderstorm watch! Worked perfectly!!! Thanks folks!!!

Does exactly what it claims By: Eric_I - Feb 4, 2009 Version: 0.8 This works great for what it is intended to do. It gives you active weather alerts in your area.
***** By: Watersnake - Dec 14, 2008 Version: 0.6.2 It works very well. Excited for push to come out.
Very useful By: Elctrcmyhm - Sep 14, 2008 Version: 0.6.1 Thank you Dave for all your help. Great communication. This application has been very useful with all of the tropical storms and hurricanes. Would love to see a time and date stamp on the alerts for when there are multiple warnings for a long period of time. Thanks again for your help.......
