Reviews:
Best weather app for everyday use By: sodesune - Apr 24, 2009 Version: 1.0 WeatherBug is one of the first apps I downloaded upon the App store's inception. It has always been on my first page, and prior to WeatherBug Elite I no plans to change weather apps or delete it because of non-use. This app is one of the best weather apps available and it is the BEST for any person that casually checks the weather on a regular basis. Those other ($2.99 to $9.99+) weather apps might be necessary if the weather consumes your every waking moment. However, for the rest of us that just want a little heads-up, this is the app for you. Best features: Multiple location homepage; animated maps; animated camera's; sleek and responsive interface; fast loading; and interactive maps with layering and auto/manual interactive drop pins. For 99¢ this is easily a ★★★★★ app.
WOW By: Skooter1074 - Apr 24, 2009 Version: 1.0 I've read some of the reviews and biggest one I agree with is that I like the three day forecast on front page. Other than that I have used weatherbug long before it was on iPhones around the world, about ten years now I guess, for those that don't know u can get it free on your desktop too!!! I've never used anything else and have always been happy with it. Thanks to the developers. Put the three day back on front page in updates ok!
THE PERFECT WEATHER APP!!! By: gotzaiPhone - May 8, 2009 Version: 1.0 It has everything you need and is set up great too! Please, don't change a thing unless it's to make it smoother and/or push notifications for bad weather. With 3.0, you know weather bug, you can send the badge notification and the cricket noise to all iPhones. Think about it....
UPDATE:
After a few weeks of using this app, I have to say it's more accurate than that weather channel crap. With my job, the weather is important and this app as better predicted the weather more times than any other of the weather apps. A co-worker of mine swears by the WC app, but weatherbug has been right 9 times out of 10 as compared to WC. people got to stop whining and complaining about a 99 cent app. This this is well worth the cost.
Perfect presentation and great details easily available By: aumtn - May 7, 2009 Version: 1.0 I cannot claim to have sampled all of the other weather apps out there, but I find it difficult to imagine any that could surpass this one. You can easily and intuitively get to exactly the level of detail and information you want. From getting detailed readings (barometric pressure, etc),to seeing various map layers (windspeed map, etc) that detail is available easily, but without causing clutter. It's easy to use this app at glance, without having to dig through menus. I had upgraded from the free WeatherBug app to WeatherBug Elite and am extremely happy with that choice. This app stays on my home screen and gets used regularly.
Great Great Great Great By: P.D.K. - May 7, 2009 Version: 1.0 This app blows weather channel out of the water. I know It cost 99 cents but it's so worth it.. This app works perfect.. If your in to doppler weather like me this is the app for you... The radar drop's a pin on your location ... That's just like the gps map.... Run and buy this app!!!! You won't be disapponted!!!! I should be a salesman for the company.....this app goes together with the iPhone like cheese and cracker's.... Lolol
Tried about 5 weather apps, this is the best! By: Tom359 - Aug 15, 2009 Version: 1.0 This app has it all....I've tried many of the other weather apps, even the paid ones, and they always left me with "if only it did......". WeatherBug Elite is awesome....it has everything you need. The day's forecast at a glance, long term forecast if you need it. I personally use the radar page all the time, and the ability to loop the animation is great. I also really like the webcam pics for each location. I have family all over the country and it's fun to get a visual of their weather, and it is great that you can do the "time lapse" view. Highly recommend this app!
Wonderful! By: kencj - Aug 12, 2009 Version: 1.0 If real-time weather info is important to you, this program is a dream come true. I just discovered the "layers" feature on the live video map, which shows a big plume of humidity moving in. For me this means, don't plan on biking this evening unless checking first for thunderstorms -awesome! The amount of live info available is impressive, and the interface is smooth and intuitive. Five stars!
For a $1, this is a very good application By: newphoneguy - Jul 17, 2009 Version: 1.0 Elite version eliminates Ads, shows Current Weather, Forecasted Weather for a week (by the day or hourly). Supports mulitiple stored locations. Shows radar with many options (IR, visible, termp, pressure, humidity, wind speed Overlays). Video forecast just like TV with very good resolution. And Weather camera shots from around your location choice. For a buck, you can't beat the amount of data this supplies quickly. FIRST application I feel I actually got my monies worth out of.
Weather when and where you need it! By: PhredG - Apr 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 I have used the WeatherBug widget on my Mac in Dashboard for years, so I was happy to see it when it came out for the iPhone/iPod Touch. When it went "Elite", I did not hesitate. It was worth just contributing to them for these great products. I love the access to all the information, the ease of use and how local the information gets - weather at schools near by and even the cams. Great apps! Thanks so much!
Worth the buck By: App-atite - Apr 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 Being a meteorologist, I usually go straight to the model data for forecasts but the radar data and webcams alone are nice to have while on the go. I also recommend the free weather undergound web based app(the marketers of wunderground radio) as it has most everything you need. Web apps dont bother me if you need an internet connection anyway to get latest data just as Fox news and nytimes web apps are still the best.

Mixed accuracy around Winnipeg By: BBJim - 16-Oct-2009 Version: 1.0 Today the weather stations around Winnipeg are reporting accurate data. Maybe someone fed the hampster overnight! With accurate data, this is a very nice app, well worth the 99 cents for the deluxe edition, and it rates 5 stars. I will leave my comment from yesterday as a reminder to the weather bug sources to be ever-vigilant about assuring that accurate data is being reported: "Some weatherbug stations appear to report accurate data that agrees with other weather reporting sources, while other weatherbug stations report data that is more like wishful thinking and is completely disconnected from reality. It is a promising app, but there has to be a way for auditing data from reporting stations, and ensuring that corrective action is effected, or take the incorrectly-reporting station off line. There is no way one station should be reporting -2 degrees when a station a few km away is reporting +23 degrees."
Helped me beat the storm By: yodeling aodl - Jun 3, 2009 Version: 1.0 As a pedestrian, I learned to appreciate the convenience of Doppler Radar long ago - especially when dealing with sudden summer afternoon and evening storms! Just today I was on my way home, moving casually, when I noticed the clouds to the south were getting rather sinister. So I pulled out my phone and WeatherBug Elite to see how strong the storm was and which way it was heading. Sure enough, it was coming towards me. I guessed that I might just beat it home as long as I got the next train, so I cut through the park and got to the station just in time. The rain started just as I got home. Pretty strong storm too! Now I'm keeping an eye on the radar to know when I can safely take the dog outside.
It's awesome how well and reasonably fast this app works, even on EDGE! The radar images update fairly frequently too (usually 2-7 minutes old), causing this app to replace the three sources I used to use to keep a close eye on changing weather. Well done!
Best Weather App By: vpoet - May 31, 2009 Version: 1.0 I'll start off by saying I've tried several weather apps:
iWeather (buggy, off weather)
AccuWeather (great program, not so accurate weather predictions)
The Weather Channel (horrible forecasts, slow app)
WeatherBug (good app, needs better multicity support through entire screen swipes)
I've tried them, and decided on WeatherBug for the predictions, which are accurate, detailed, and in a clean format. I like the camera shots, too, though I wish more cities would be involved.
I chose WeatherBug Elite for the more detailed maps & radar, and also the removal of ads. No, there is no other difference from the free app. The info says so, and people who believed otherwise didn't read before buying. This app is great at what it does: weather, local pictures, and radar. Yes, the video is of the entire country or a region, but if you need a weather meteorologist, then watch the news. This app gives all the info, anyway.
Five stars for being so accurate with current and predicted conditions. Though some attention could be paid to better city switching behavior.
Thank you, devs!
Supporting Quality! By: Duzzenmatta - Apr 26, 2009 Version: 1.0 With so many other app devs downgrading already-purchased apps (why hasn't the FCC looked into this?) to introduce "full" versions, these guys stepped up. They actually improved their free version, and admitted in the update that ads would be introduced in it. (Honesty works best.) with that, they told us about this "Elite", ad-free version.
While the apps that those weasels down-draded either went to the wayside or their "updates" continue to gather dust on my update page, I sat at the edge of my seat, for this one. (I wait and read the reviews that follow updates, before allowing them. I recommend others do the same.)
Let me tell you, I couldn't be happier.
The free version is excellent, and reason enough to kiss the one by that tv channel good-bye. This is no less as good. Sure, it's nice to do without the ads, which were unobtrusive. But thhese guys deserved the sale for the quality of their app, and the class they've demonstrated.
Times are hard because companies walked all over their customers. Not these guys.
Class act, fellas. Now if I could only get rid of that other (useless) weather app, that's crowding up my precious space...
Hear that, Apple?
My favorite weather app! By: Michael Caswell - May 23, 2009 Version: 1.0 This is a steal at 99 cents. I love how it presents current conditions and forecast info. I find it handy for sailing... I have several stations selected along the Gulf Coast, and before I even leave the house, I can quickly scroll through them to see how the wind is looking. The map function, where you can see a graphical representation of the wind (as well as other elements) is useful as well, and the radar presentation is near perfect (the only thing I'd like to see here is for radar/maps to display as full-screen when the phone is rotated to horizontal). Overall, my only real complaint (and it's a small one) is that a logo splash screen appears for several seconds whenever you open the app. When you want to quickly check the radar, it's an annoying wait for the splash screen to go away.
Animated radar & hourly forecast make it a worth going elite By: Timothytripp - Apr 25, 2009 Version: 1.0 This is not just the old weatherbug app before they added ads. They have added animated radar, hourly forecast (who cares if it's going to rain 3 hours AFTER you leave the beach?) and more layers on the maps like wind speed and humidity.
The only thing I still need is a rainfall layer to see rainfall in the last 24-72 hours (preferably one for 24 and one for 72) as I mountain bike and hike so this would help with trail conditions.
Great job guys!!!
Slick By: scalloped - May 18, 2009 Version: 1.0 I really like this version of Weatherbug. It is faster and less polluted than the PC version, and more useful than the previous iPhone version.
Most notable to me is the ability to browse changes in forecast by the hour.
I haven't seen any NWS updates on it yet, but look forward to being able to see it when they are issued. That saves a trip on Safari to the NOAA website.
Slicker than snot on a brass doorknob.
Saved the day By: Strwbblond - May 16, 2009 Version: 1.0 I have been using weatherbug on my laptop for years so I new when they made the changes to the program on Iphone I was Going to buy the update.
We were at a Kart race where we had no way of knowing when the weather would get bad. I pulled weatherbug up and was able to let officials know the weather was coming in and how bad it was going to get. We were able load all our equipment and get out before it hit.
I use this program over my local weather channel's free moblie ap. It updates quicker.
The only thing I would like to see is a lay over of icons to show storm direction, storm warning/watch boxes, and maybe a line showing it's a front pushing the storm down, things like that. Other than that I can't see any changes or add on needed.
Keep up the good work.
Clean interface! Bad icon! By: ZenNewbie - May 10, 2009 Version: 1.0 Radar map animation was THE feature I upgraded from the free Weatherbug for. I also wanted to support my chosen weather app. The other added features are nice, although I miss the simplicity of the initial "today & tomorrow" view, which I used all the time.
But PLEASE take that Brush Script monstrosity off the Elite icon! I would put the free one on my home page if I hadn't already upgraded to the new version with ads!
Outstanding App! By: Sabres101 - Aug 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 This app is outstanding! I can't belive this app is only $0.99 and has everything you want to ask for! I been using Weatherbug's website for 4 years until I discover they have Weatherbug for the apple store. They have the free version which is good for basic but I found that they have a paid version and I tried this one out along with other leading weather product's and this one was the best of all of them! But, there is some needed fixs and some features added.
1. The icon needs fixing.
My option is remove the "elite" from the icon and make the bug bigger and leave the color black on the icon.
2. A quick forecast look, needs to be added to the forecast section.
3. Add live motion for the camera's.
( If there are Motion camera's for your area ).
These are the only problems from this app. I recommend this app to anyone!
Well worth the price and temporary 4 star app and it will be a 5 star until these are fixed and added. Thank you WeatherBug and keep up the good work! :)
